Setting is like Harry potter hogwarts. Multiclass penalty is enforced. No ToB. Class combo I have so far is 5 bard 3 ( feat ) uncanny trickster 1 marshal ( cha aura ) ( restrictions was mostly arcane spellcaster, but not warlock or dragonfire adept. Side martial classes were rogue . Gonna try to slide in the 1 virtuoso and 10 sublime chord. Party is a duskblade ( advancing till 5 or so ) / archivist ( casual player / healer ). Other one, goliath hexblade, but also a semi-casual player. DM has his only 'fire-specialist' warmage thing happening, but has thrown some needlessly difficult encounters before. I just barely came off of finally getting them to see that pounce can be done while slowly and inspire courage sing-attack. I am running acid dragonfire-inspire ( DM no likey sonic ).

I am illumian with caster level sigil and cha sigil.

No flaws, traits. What spells should be gotten that are good for sublime chord that can be BFC and/or party booster? Sometimes, we are 'adventuring' with just us. Sometimes, we are with other school student npcs and battle alongside them. Mostly casters ( Hogwarts ) mixed between sorceror, warmage ( elemental specialists ), unoptimized wizard, etc.

Sources available are any of the WOTC books, online archive, and dragon compendium. DM isn't too familiar with a lot of the dragon mags. No templates either. Wealth is controlled quite due to it being a school. Exalted feats. Vile feats are a no. Evil alignment spells may be a yes, but having evil alignment is a no unless i can earn it ( don't plan on it this round ). These little tidbits are here just in case someone were to suggest them. No incarnum-requiring stuff or psionic-requiring things ( psychoactive skin, incarnumj focus, etc. ).

You're basically a sorcerer with access to the bard list, but fewer spells known and spell slots. So crack open your favorite sorcerer handbook and stick with only the best of the best non-redundant spells you can find, then throw in the handful of bard-only goodies like Glibness that you might see yourself using more than once on a given day.

You also have the option of getting bard/wizard spells early, which can be nice. Break Enchantment I think is on the list, but the most fun one I can think of is Irresistible Dance. Dive into Spell Compendium and remember that you get the best of both worlds.

Wings of Flurry, Wings of Cover. They are both your very good friends, as they are Blasty and Blocky, respectively. Any Sorcerer's a lot tougher with those two in their brain.

Speaking of Force spells, Magic Missile. It's always nice to have, and sometimes it's all that you can hit something with.

Disintegrate is a must, it's both deadly and extremely useful for disappearing obstacles.

Enervate and it's older brother, Energy Drain are great anyway, but since it sounds like you're up against a lot of other casters...you'll love this one, it hits those guys harder in 3.5

Can you fly yet? You're a full caster, it's the easiest way to avoid Froghemoths and other brutish monsters. I personally like Overland Flight. Not quite as fast as Fly, but no one ever asks me for a lift, so I like the one-and-done effect Overland provides. Look into your other options for flight, though.

Dimension Door is just great.

People say great things about Wall of Stone, so look into that.

Dispel Magic/Greater Dispel Magic are neat. Go for them.

Especially since you're even tighter on spell slots, you'll want Shadow Conjuration and Shadow Evocation (and their Greater counterparts). Between the four of those, and Shades at Spell Level 9th, you've got almost two whole schools added to your list. If you take these, Spell Focus: Illusion becomes a very attractive feat.
