To the Last Man, Jeff Shaara

[The Black Prince]

I have been reading Shaara's novel about World War 1. I believe he tells the tale with accuracy, startling insight, and a perfectly impartial attitude. I especially like his chapters about Manfred von Ricthofen (the Red Baron) and Rauol Lufbery. (Why did they have to die? Why?)

I don't trust Jeff Shaara ever since I read through Gods and Generals. He took his father's work and tried to duplicate it.

He did so poorly.
