What's some of the playgrounds most highly rated homebrew races or classes?

Not including anything formally published.

Mine's definitely Person_Man's Magitech Templar (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?176276-3-5-Magitech-Templar-Iron-Man)

Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I am quite a big fan of my optional gestalt/LA variant ruleset, which I use extensively as a DM, for both players and NPCs (it provides a much nicer way to give monsters class levels rather than just stacking them ontop of the existing HD and having to deal with the resulting CR bork that occurs afterwards).

Ordinarily, there are too many to mention - I've seen some fantastic stuff, particularly the Mythos classes from these forums.

But since WotC is shutting down its forums, I figured at least one thing was specifically worthy of mention - the Disciple of Metal (http://community.wizards.com/forum/previous-editions-general/threads/1116756) Bard PrC. (Save it if you like it!) Not the most powerful, but very entertaining. I'm told somebody did a port of it to PF, as well.

Most of what I've read lacks either flavor, balance or mechanical consistency or simplicity. As a consequence I'm not an avid reader of homebrew content, and I rarely feel the need for it.
However, I have found and used one gem : this monk fix (www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?270919-Tashalatora-The-Inevitable-Conclusion-3-5-Monk-fix-567896). It actually works, it's consistent and easy to use, it offers plenty of options, and it's stylish as hell. Best of all, it almost perfectly preserves the original class. It really rocks. And I don't even like the other homebrew content by the same author. It's just one great find I wanted to share.

I rather like the Inheritor (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?443020-3-5-The-Inheritor-%28Incarnum-Martial-Adept-Base-Class%29) an incarnum/martial adept base class Xefas recently posted. The Scholar (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?101126-Scholar-%28Base-Class-3-5%29-%28PEACH%29) also holds a special place in my heart, an adventuring teacher kitbashed together from aspects of the Archivist, Psion, and Wizard... with an origami familiar.

Empedocles's half-orc (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?238705-A-3-5-Half-orc-you-ll-actually-want-to-play-All-PEACHing-HUGELY-APPRECIATED!!!!) (and orc (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?245362-The-Orc-to-my-half-orc-fix-PEACH)) are some of the best treatments those races have seen to date (narrowly edging out my own (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?129955-Orc-%283-5-remix-race%29-%28PEACH%29)).

I like Project Heretica's Paladins (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?193554-Project-Heretica-not-just-a-Paladin-retooling) of all alignments.
