I recently suffered a concussion (someone carelessly whacked me in the head with a kettle bell at the gym), and reading much more than a few sentences gives me a headache, but I find listening isn't bad at all. Is there a browser extension (preferably that works with Pale Moon) or other software that would let me simply highlight text and have it read aloud, or something similar?

Of course! Welcome to the world of adaptive tech! Try these:

Narrator: comes with most PCs. See Accesibility on your computer.

If not narrater (or Apple's equivalent) try these, specifically made for those with vision problems.

http://www.screenreader.net/ has THUNDER free screen reader.

Both of the following cost money, but should have free trials available.

JAWS screen-readng software(managed by Freedom Scientific)
www.FreedomScientific.com

ZOOMtext: enlarges screen for ease of view. Also comes with a narrator function.

Of these, JAWS is the most specialized and can actually, if needed, be used without looking at the screen at all.

Sorry to learn of your injury and get well soon!
