Psychic poison, curse or toxin?

So it's come up that psychic poison may affect those normally immune to poison as it is a magical effect and is described as a curse. However the spells text, and even the section about it in the BVD also refer to it as a toxin. So was wondering if there was any official statement on this.

In my games, it was always treated as a magical poison.

So, it would penetrate immunity to natural poisons, but not immunity to poisons (like some Fiends have).

We all agreed on that point, no debate. But since the spell states it affects spellcasters, and is a magical affect targeting the mind and not on a physical level, it may affect creatures such as undead or elementals.
