Planning to do a video on Dreadball (http://www.manticgames.com/games/dreadball.html) and I'm wondering if anyone knows of any royalty-free music that would fit.

Youtube links would be appreciated so I've at least got somewhere to start from. Unfortunately; I have about as much of an ear for music as the Greenmoon Smackers have a sense for subtlety. I'll know what'll work when I hear it, but I have no real idea of what that is just yet.

Also; as far as I know, Fair Use is only a law in the US and I'm in Australia so it wouldn't apply. I'd rather not run the risk of copyright claims, frankly, hence why I was specifically asking about royalty-free stuff.

EDIT: Mantic had a tune in a video of it they released while the game was on Kickstarter (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9KboIh6lBE), but I don't think they made it available anywhere.

Anyone? Please? I'm just asking for a place to start. If I could find that tune from the video I linked above, or the one in this one from Miniwargaming (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OO9Wey6mfU), I'd use that but I'm otherwise totally stumped.

http://freeplaymusic.com/ Huge library, personal use on YouTube is free (though they can monetize it for themselves, and if your use is commercial they charge).

Kevin MacLeod offers his entire catalogue royalty free under a creative commons license (just give him credit and link back to his site from the description of the video). Because of this, so many people use his music for their videos, particularly gamers, that he's arguably the MOST listened to musician on the planet.

Yeah, I'd thought of him because one YouTuber I follow (WarGamerGirl, she does a lot of Warmachine and Hordes battle reports, some of the best-edited ones I've seen, too) uses his music in her videos but I was a bit intimidated by the size of the library and no clear idea on what I'm after. Digging through some of them now, seeing what I can find. Found a few for the 'maybe' list, comes down to how well I can loop them and how well they work as background music behind my commentary.

I'm all-ears for any suggestions on particular tracks, but since I've seen little-to-no mention of it on here, I get the feeling there aren't too many Dreadball players around who'd have an idea of what tracks would fit with the game's tone.

Yeah, it is a big list. But a lot of it is typically background friendly, and usually not too hard to loop if needbe. I'd probably start with the soundtrack category and see if some of those fit your needs, then expand to some of the other categories that might lean in the direction you're looking for. I'm not familiar at all with the game you're talking about, so I have no idea what might work specifically.

Thanks, I'll try that.

As for the game; think of it as sci-fi Blood Bowl by way of Speedball (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speedball_%28video_game%29).

The audio portal on Newgrounds.com might also be worth a look if you haven't found what you're looking for yet. Lots of music there can probably be used if you ask nicely and credit the maker.
