So I've become fond of Flashget, but the version I'm using (3.7) simply will not download .exe files at all. Keeps kicking back "Sorry, the protocol is not support now" when I try. It seems that ONLY .exe files are having this problem, which seems odd since I see that it is set to monitor exe as well as about thirty odd other file types. Firefox is being dumb about actually completing any downloads--for which I 100% blame the Great Firewall--and any kind of tunnel has the speed of a tortoise anyway. Meaning I'll spend upwards of an hour trying to download something to find out at the very end that the file is corrupt and/or incomplete. But that's 100% a Firefox problem with all file types.
Any way to get FlashGet to do its job? Or is it the job of the app to deny exe files, and if so how can I get around it? Keeping in mind that I'm not keen on adding another download manager to the mix.
