The Vagabond
2015-10-07, 09:22 PM
Basically, it's an Idea I've had for a long, long time. Primarily, a class that is the Spellcasting equivalent of the Summoner to Melee combat- But merged with the Bards buffing ability.
So I'm making a class called The Conductor. It doesn't have much but a table to it, and a spellcasting equivalent method, and I want to see what I can do make it work, and ideas for parts to make it work.

Conductor's Performance:
A conductor's Performance relies on two things, the Conductor and Parts of his Orchestra. To maintain a performance, a part must be no further than 60 feet away from another part of the Orchestra. At least one orchestra must be within 60 feet of the Conductor.
To maintain a Orchestral performance, one must take a full round action every round, provoking attacks of opportunities.
A conductor can perform for 4+Cha mod minutes per day at level one, plus four more minutes per level he possesses
A song is composed of Three aspects:
The Mood: The mood defines how the song sounds feels- This mostly includes the type of Genre, the contour, and the type of sound it makes. To maintain a Performance, the Melody must be maintained. Think the benefits from Bardic Performances for this one, on the mechanically benefits.
Aspects: These are mostly the nuts and gears of the music, Harmony, or those small things that truly make a song. Think spell effects for this one.
Counterpoint: These are mostly the different types of rhythms that are going on, and the different melodies. This is where the summoner bits come into play, where the main benefits of a Conductor is that he is very capable of managing action economy, functioning in this case as 3 level 5 wizards in a level 10 party.
Each aspect has a base effect, plus a bonus for every member who takes part in an effect.
Orchestra:
A orchestra consists of parts, which then consist of members. Each part is considered a Incorporeal Troop of the Outsider type. Melodies and Aspects are powered by Members of a Orchestra, however, you cannot have more than your level +1 members focusing on a single aspect or Mood.
Basic stuff on music:
Basically, Music is Psionics on a per-round basis, with a slight action economy advantage. You have augmenting a power, or in this case, a melody.
With that done, the goal is to create a relatively freeform system, where hopefully you can make a representation for any song, from Fill my good fellow (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3Db_jARe2Q), Happy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6Sxv-sUYtM), and Dies Irae (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDFFHaz9GsY). And I just want to see if I'm making the whole thing simply more complicated than it has to be before I get further work done on it.
So I'm making a class called The Conductor. It doesn't have much but a table to it, and a spellcasting equivalent method, and I want to see what I can do make it work, and ideas for parts to make it work.
