Help with a MASSIVE Leadership score.

In an effort to kill a fair amount of time, I used the rules from the 3.5 Draconomicon to advance a Great Wyrm Gold Dragon to 1,000 HD. The biggest issue I have is figuring out the amount a followers a creature with a Leadership score of 1,173, has, as well as what level his cohort is. Any help by those more skilled with numbers and formula than me would be greatly appreciated.

Cohort level maximum: 591
First level followers: 1,134,000
Your second level followers are a tenth of that.
And then half that number for every follower of the next subsequent level up.

Well in the end since the cohort will have an caster level higher than the dragon the dragon will be in fact rather a chore the cohort will manage to keep alive with his caster level 591 spells.

I have to wonder why the dragon has 1,000 HD and where it found this level 591 cohort and small army of epic-level characters.
