In its most simplest form, my question is thus: What does an entire round for a player entail in combat?

I'll elaborate to clarify. How many standard actions, movement actions, free actions, swift actions, and any other types of actions do you get? What order do these have to go in (if any). I have argued time and again with my DM about these things and we have not found sufficient answers by googling around on the entirety of a turn.

From start to finish, how many actions (include action types please) can one's player perform?

Thanks in advance guys, you're always a huge help on clarifying the not so clear rules.

One standard, one move, one swift and as many free actions as your DM will allow you. You can trade the move and the standard for a full round action instead. You can take the actions in any order you desire. Immediate actions work slightly differently, if you take them on your turn then they use your swift action. If you use them when it isn't your turn then they use up your next rounds swift action.

1 standard action,
1 move action,
1 swift action, and
As many free actions as the DM will allow.

If you do not move, you may take a 5-foot step.

You may use an immediate action any time during the round, replacing your swift action on your next turn.

You may use a full-round action instead of a standard action and a move action. You can also start a full-round action by using a standard on your current turn, and another standard on your next turn.

You can take a full-round action, or you can take a move action and standard action. You can take one swift action per round, at any time. You can take any amount of free actions at any time during your turn. Immediate actions are like swift actions, but you can take them even if it's not your turn.

You get 1 standard action, 1 move action, 1 swift/immediate action, and as many free actions as your Dm allows. You can take them in any order you chose, with the exception of the immediate action which can be taken during anybody else's turn.

All the above posters are correct. Just remember that you can take another move action in lieu of your standard action, so for example you can move two times in a turn if you don't take a standard action.

All the above posters are correct. Just remember that you can take another move action in lieu of your standard action, so you can move two times in a turn if you don't take a standard action. You can move or take a move-equivalent action, such as standing up from prone or casting a spell with a move action casting time.

Also, there are ways to cheat the action economy to gain extra actions. The choker monster, for instance, gains an additional standard action each round as a Supernatural ability, which can be co-opted if you Shapechange into one. Psionics has the Hustle power, which has a swift action manifesting time and gives you an extra move action in exchange.
