So my players are getting to the point where they're wanting to own property. There are some cool rules for this and for the management of said property in 5th ed, but it seems really limited in 3.5. are there any good 3rd party systems for it, or perhaps a WotC product I don't know about? Or as an alternative, does anyone know the exchange rate for 5th ed gold to 3.5 gold? cause then I could just use those rules.

I don't recall exactly whether there were specific rules for the ownership of property per se but my first thought goes straight to the stronghold builder's guidebook.

Wow. I googled it. That comes under the heading of "WotC product I didn't know about."

Although I am still curious about the 5th/3.5 gold exchange rate.

You might also look to the Birthright campaign setting for inspiration.

This looks interesting too. Also for the large scale warfare aspect.

In 3rd Edition D&D: 10 c.p. = 1 s.p., 10 s.p. = 1 g.p., 10 g.p. = 1 p.p.. Electrum does not exist.

In 5th Edition D&D: 10 c.p. = 1 s.p., 5 s.p. = 1 e.p., 2 e.p. = 1 g.p., 5 g.p. = 1 p.p.

So, gold in 3.5 is worth the same about as gold in 5E. Though, platinum in 5E is only worth half as much as platinum in 3.5.

Pathfinder's Ultimate Campaign has a bunch of rules. I have my issues with them but they are fairly decent and easy to incorporate.
The Downtime (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/other-rules/downtime) rules are probably what you want, and it can be tacked rather painlessly on to full-blown domain management (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/other-rules/kingdom-building).

I'm talking about buying power. How many 5e golds are worth 1 3.5 gold?
