Welcome one and all to the voting thread for the fifth 3.X Ancillary Contest: Power in rhyme it's poetry time (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?444046-3-X-Ancillary-Contest-VI-Power-in-rhyme-poetry-time). Voting will consist of each voter giving a first, a second, and a third place vote, as well as a vote for the categories of Most Original, Most Likely to See Play, and Best Use of Theme. Anyone can vote, and in fact, entrants must vote to qualify for victory.

A first place vote is worth three points, a second place vote is worth two points, and a third place vote is worth one point. Votes for the three other categories are each worth 1 point in their category. You may not vote for your own entry.

You are encouraged to include reason with your votes, though this is not absolutely required.

The class that ends up with the most points wins the contest overall, and each category goes to the class with the most votes in it. Voting starts now and will continue until 23:59 (Eastern Standard Time USA/Canada; GMT-5) on November 12th.

First: Song of the Open Road. It's just full of flavor and it seems reasonably balanced too.
Second: Epic Utterances. Though it's unlikely to get any 'most likely to see play' votes, this is pretty cool. It's a reasonably balanced way to create your own spell. It might need to allow a little more poetic freedom, but I see why you did what you did.
Third: Poetic Spell. Seems reasonably balanced, it's sort of like being able to repeat your Save or Die spell but it takes another action and +2 spell level and another turn and... seems ok. It's a little bit more loosely tied to the theme but it does work.

Most Original: Epic Utterances
Best use of theme: Epic Utterances.
Most likely to see play: Song of the Open Road.

1st Song of the Open Road (Most Original and Best Use of Theme)
2nd Epic Utterances (MLTSP)
3rd Demanding Terzanelle

Gotta admit, really dig what you did, Vaynor.

And Jorm, I'd definitely love to see that in play one day.

And holy hell, Amechra, I chuckled a bit when you put a whole poem in the description.

First: Epic Utterances. I really like the idea of truenaming, if not the execution, because the idea of changing the fabric of the universe by describing it properly has always appealed to me. The epic utterances really have that feel of universe changing ability that has always stuck with me with truenaming.
Second: Demanding Terzanelle. I like bards quite a lot, and new bardic music is always fun, but it tends to be a bit stale and generally uninspired. I really like the flavor and substance of this one a lot.
Third: Prophecy feat. Prophecies can be fun for building worlds and campaigns, and I like the idea of putting the power of prophecy in the hands of the player.

Most Original: Demanding Terzanelle
Most Likely to See Play: Demanding Terzanelle
Best Use of Theme: Demanding Terzanelle

While I liked the Epic Utterances the best overall, I found that I'd probably more like to see the Demanding Terzanelle in my game, and an original poem can't help but win the most original category, for me, I feel.

I need to remember to close these better.

Votes tallied.

Vaynor is the clear 1st place winner with 14 votes and Song of the Open Road.
Jorm is the strong 2nd place winner with 11 votes and Epic Utterances. Go go Truenamer.
Amechra is 3rd place with 4 votes and Demanding Terzanelle.

Vaynor also takes 2 of the categories and it's 3:30 AM and I have to decide on the last one as it's a tie. I'm going to have to give it to Vaynor for making a set of feats out of a poem which I quite like as a use of the theme though the decision was agonizing (Demanding Terzanelle would have definitely gotten my vote for original).
