A wyrmling sap dragon's scales are a bright blue color; one could easily be mistaken for a blue dragon wyrmling, especially since they share the same habitat. This camouflage enables sap dragon wyrmlings to survive. They are the weakest of dragons physically, but become powerful as their magical abilities improve. As they age, their scales become a light yellow color, ideal for hiding in blowing sandstorms. Because sap dragons can't burrow, they must either oust a blue dragon from its lair or find a natural cave.

Sap dragons are blind when in bright sunlight. They rely on sandstorms which blot out, or at least darken, the sun. When there are no sandstorms going on, they will stay in their lairs. An adult or older sap dragon can create his own sandstorm. Sap dragons never take penalties or damage for being in a sand or dust storm.

Combat

Sap dragons feed on travellers wandering through sandstorms. They take advantage of the fact that the creatures are already being beaten down by the storm, and drain them of remaining life with their breath weapon. When not hungry, sap dragons delight in using their spell-like abilities just to toy with desert wanderers.

Breath Weapon (Su)

A sap dragon has one type of breath weapon, a cone of ability drain. Instead of breathing out like a typical breath weapon, the sap dragon sucks in the vitality of his victims. The sap dragon chooses which ability to drain each time he uses his breath weapon.

Torment (Sp)

A sap dragon plays with souls lost in the desert as a sport. This ability can cause a number of "playful" effects, from blindness (would allow a Fortitude save) to major images of drinking fountains. Lower age catagories produce less powerful effects than higher age catagories. A sap dragon can use this ability a number of times per day equal to its age catagory.

Other Spell-Like Abilities

3/day - vampiric touch (juvenile or older), sandstorm (adult or older); 1/day - mummify (old or older), horrid wilting (ancient or older), energy drain (great wyrm).

Skills

Hide, Move Silently, and Spot are considered class skills for sap dragons.

How can they see through the airborn sand and dust itself? What about venturing out at night?

Torment is really vague.
