I'm currently DMing a Dark Sun Campaign and another one set in the Scarred Lands. Since the monsters are such a huge part of both settings, I'm currently converting Terrors of Athas to 5th edition, and also the Creature Collection for the Scarred Lands. The monsters in both settings are plain nasty, and I want them to lose none of the toughness if possible.

Im using this document (https://docs.google.com/document/d/15PDTkBoUBlAXVgzm9YCvRrMKTLKpCFyqwNVcoz05q9I/edit?pli=1) as a guideline. Is this the way to go?

Recent WotC on this topic here (http://media.wizards.com/2015/downloads/dnd/DnD_Conversions_1.0.pdf).

Thats for player characters. I was just wondering if the document I linked to was good for the conversions of 3.5 monsters to 5th edition.

WotC's guidelines are worthless. They give nothing.

I use that exact sheet for my PF->5e converter (see sig). It works quite well. I've made some small adjustments to make AC more accurate.

FYI here is my sheet that I used to calculate the accuracy of AC based on PF monsters that are in 5e.

You can see my formula in there as well.

Oh yeah, one last thing - Im currently converting the creatures in Terrors of Athas (http://athas.org/products/toa) and Terrors of the Dead Lands (http://athas.org/products/totdl)to 5th edition using the guide I linked in the thread starter. Will the monsters be balanced for the 5th edition using the guidelines above?
