Typed this up during class, I'll clean up the rambling and add to it some more once I get back from class.

Gem: Advanced Race
+2 to one ability score. Gems are varied and specialised in their own way.
Half-construct Humanoid. Gems gain a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against disease, mind-affecting effects, poison, and effects that cause either exhaustion or fatigue. They cannot be raised or resurrected and do not breathe, eat, or sleep, unless they want to gain some beneficial effect from one of these activities. This means that a half-construct can drink potions to benefit from their effects and can sleep in order to regain spells, but neither of these activities is required for the construct to survive or stay in good health.
Medium. Most gems are around the size of a human.
Normal speed. Gems have a base speed of 30 feet.
Return to Core. A gem has a gem core at the centre of their being, at some place on the outside of their body which projects their body, to create light with mass. This core is their true body. Gems cannot die of negative hit points to their main body; however, when a gem would lose consciousness due to negative hit points (or they reach negative hit points that would otherwise kill them, usually equal to their constitution score), the instead discorporate into their gem and become helpless. This also applies if they would die of constitution damage. When within their gem, they have no perception of the outside world and can typically take no actions, being helpless as they focus entirely upon healing themselves. They recover ability score and hit point damage at a rate equal as if experiencing full bed rest and stable. When they are content with their recovered hit points, they may awaken or wait until reaching full hit points to regenerate. When they regenerate they are treated as if having had a full night's rest if they spent at least 8 months regenerating. When a gem regenerates they typically have minor aesthetic differences from their previous appearance.
Gem Core. The Gem core is the weak spot of a gem, but they do well to guard it. A gem core can be struck as a called shot at a -10 penalty, or as a Fine item when the Gem has returned to their core (as above). Gems have a hardness of 10 plus character level, and hit points equal to half the character's own. If a gem core is broken but not destroyed, the character is Confused. When a character's gem is destroyed (or 'shattered') the gem character is dead.
Change Form. Gems can use Alter Shape at will as a supernatural ability to assume the appearance of a small or medium humanoid. This does not adjust their ability scores but allows them to assume the appearance of specific individuals with a +10 disguise check, but gems maintain their pallet and gem position, meaning this bonus is halved against those familiar with the gem. You can also conjure clothing and alter in this way, but it gives no particular equipment bonus and disappears if seperated from the body of the wearer.
Signature Item. Select one tool, weapon or piece of armour (including a shield). The selected item cannot be changed once selected. The chosen equipment can be equipped as a standard action, of it a weapon can be manifested with the same action that an equivalent item would be drawn with, and is manifested from light from your gem. If you possess Two-Weapon Fighting and chose a weapon that can be wielded in one hand, you may equip manifest two copies of the item to dual wield. You are automatically proficient with your Signature item if appropriate, which is always at least a masterwork item. If you drop or throw your Signature Item, it disappears after one round.

Human Subrace: Half Gem
Lose Skilled, gain Signature Item and Change Form. However, one can only use these abilities with a DC 15 level plus wisdom check. Remove this limitation for Signature Item if you possess Improved Signature Item.

Crystal Gem expression trait: perform (dance) and perform (sing) as skills?

to come: racial favoured class options, archetypes, spells and equipment, and fusion rules, and of course feats because you can never have to many feats (such as the eluded to Improved Signature Item). that, and alternate racial traits for the smol gems.
