View Full Version : Pathfinder Playable Minor Gods?

I'm thinking of running a world more similar to Archaic Greece or Egypt then Tolkein, with lots of minor gods who interact with the world on a daily basis. Basically somewhere between river sprites and angels or polytheistic gods.

My thinking right now is a class which grants Spheres from Spheres of Power related to their religious outlook/role, but fights like a Fighter/Barbarian. Maybe grant them auto-successes on skill attempts and saves a few times a day to replicate their godly heroism.

What seems the best way to give them the feeling of minor gods?

I've thought about a similar setting, and what I came up with was that a mid- to high-level druid, sorcerer, or cleric could do a pretty credible job of representing a minor god - especially if you get creative with their spell list.

I think both of y'all's ideas are reasonable already. But to throw in an additional option, Zaydos made a thing that could also work (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?306621-So-you-want-to-play-a-god-%283-5-Base-Class-PEACH%29).

I like both your suggestions! I really like transparencies, the ability to add templates with at-will powers is perfect.

Mythic PCs could be fun.

I made this (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?452042-Avatar-Barbarian-Archetype)for fighter type minor-gods.

But I agree with debihuman, mythic can do minor gods really really well.

Well, there are a lot of resources out there for you.

I'm pretty partial to various Immortal rules like The Book of Immortals (http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/1670/The-Book-of-Immortals?term=immortal&it=1) (a great way to portray more than mortal but less than a god) and Immortals Handbook: ASCENSION (http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/55116/Immortals-Handbook-ASCENSION?term=immortal) (So long as you stay within the first several templates and stay away from the Cosmic and higher tier powers you are good).

Another way to do it is just to open up some OP options like The Genius Guide to Horrifically Overpowered Feats (http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/100930/The-Genius-Guide-to-Horrifically-Overpowered-Feats?term=overpowered) and The Genius Guide to More Horrifically Overpowered Feats (http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/110768/The-Genius-Guide-to-More-Horrifically-Overpowered-Feats?src=slider_view). They include options like making BAB = HD, adding a half-progression Gestalt class, and letting spellcasters cast additional spells in a round like fighters making extra attacks but with CL reduction instead of BAB reduction. They even have one for Mythic (http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/127989/The-Genius-Guide-to-Horrifically-Overpowered-Mythic-Feats?src=slider_view) characters.

I just bought a bunch of these in a bundle sale recently and I was quite amused. They would fit right into a demi-god type game.
