I was given a large +5 Dwarvencraft Obdurium greatsword with a Crystal of adamant weaponry, greater attached
what is its hardness and what is it Hp and is there a way I can increase thesesObdurium: 60 hp per inch and hardness 30.

According to this (http://www.thearma.org/essays/2HGS.html), a real-life greatsword is a third of an inch thick. A Large greatsword would be twice as thick, so two-thirds of an inch, meaning the blade itself would have 40 hp and retain the 30 hardness. Now dwarvencraft increases that to 50 hp and 32 hardness. A greater crystal of adamant weaponry would increase the hardness by 10, to 42. The +5 increases the hp by +50 to 100 and the hardness by an additional +10, to 52.

So 100 hp and 52 hardness.

Voila.

You can increase both by increasing the enhancement bonus through spells (Greater Magic Weapon; add in Reserves of Strength to break the cap) and psionic powers (Metaphysical Weapon) -- and make sure to boost your CL or ML. You can also increase the hardness rating by the Hardening spell and the Matter Manipulation power

[edit] If you've got an intelligent weapon, you can give it temp hp and make it take half-damage via Shield Other or Share Pain.

Objection! Using real-life numbers before checking for game numbers. A two handed steel blade is already given a standard hp of 10, thus Obdurium with exactly twice the hit points of steel has a base of 20hp. There are no rules for determining the hp for bigger weapons, but doubling does seem reasonable, which would result in 40hp. You reached the correct answer but with the wrong methods, good thing this wasn't a test :smallwink: And remember kids, that's why you always show your work.

Hold it!

Footnote 1 in this table (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/exploration.htm#tableCommonArmorWeaponAndShieldHar dnessAndHitPoints) provides that exact rule - double HP for every size category increase.

I checked the weapon size rules, you'd think it would be listed there but no, it was on the first table I'd checked to begin with :smallfrown:

Please, this is an internet forum. Disorder is the best you're gonna get; hey, at least it's not full-blown anarchy.
