I never know what is too much or too little equipment for NPCs I know about the chart on the SRD but I feel as though this is a bit too much. These enemies are intended to fight a group of 5 level 2 PCs. They may have some commoner's to aid them. Basically the village they are staying at is going to be attacked by these riders. I'm thinking 1 dancer and 2 outriders. They both ride giant bees (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/vermin/bees-and-wasps/bee-giant).
Encounter 1: 2 outriders
Encounter 2: 1 dancer, 2 regular kobolds
I'm not sure how to place their actual CRs. The outriders theoretically should be CR 1/2 and the dancer should be CR 2? Adding up the XP, encounters 1 and 2 equate to an overall CR of 4 I think. That should be pretty hard for them. I'm trying to decide if these are appropriate for a party containing a Rogue, Ninja, Magus, Warpriest, and Bard. The players are new and I am used to DMing for experienced players. I haven't DMed for new players for a long time. Do you all think this is too overpowering? My regular group would probably trounce these encounters.
Anyway any thoughts or suggestions? I'm aiming for tough yet not overpowering.
