"Uh, something about words...or books...uh...either-or."
Dr. Slobockia, Lead Researcher at the Living Library

"Dude, don't be messing up the beginning quote!"
Gudnorr, Assistant Researcher and Lead Camraman at the Living Library

Of all the strange and wondrous sights to see in all the planes, the Living Library... Well, it's not not exactly the strangest sight, nor the most wondrous, but should you find yourself near the portal to the demiplane that contains the Living Library (straight down from the Seven Celestial heavens, turn right near Arborea), you'd definitly want to take a look.

*******

It once was that all books could move and make sound, after their own fashion. For once all the books in the world, nay, the planes! had pictures inside of them that could dance, and sing, and cry, and laugh, and do all of the things the living creatures could do.

Until one day the gods all decided to make the pictures in the books mute and still, for They had decided to make the books like all the other things that neither live nor move, because Such was Their Wont.

They hid the ways to make books just like Those of Old, and a troop of angels agreed to guard these hiding spots with their lives.

But hidden things are found, eventually, and angels may grow fickle, and so it came to pass that trickles of Mortals came to be able to make books just like Those of Old.

This story, then, is about one of those trickles, how he came to find one of the Angels that Guarded the Secrets, how he then fell in love with her, how he managed to Wrestle the Secrets Away, how he then founded the Library of Secrets and how he came to lose his love, the Angel who Guarded the Secrets.

For even a poor, sorry, slob of a doctor and his two green henchmen can, on closer examination, contain a story about sadness, joy, loss, betrayel, and yes, Love.

Basically a library with moving and talking pictures in the books. Sorry if you expected something really fancy from the above story.

The Places in the Living Library
Stuff about the various things you can find in the Library. Also, traits of the demiplane it's on.
Demiplane Traits
Flowing Time: For every week that passes on the material plane, a day passes at the Living Library.
Finite Size: While it is big, the Living Library's space is not infinite. Most estimates place the Library's size at about ??? cubic feet. (Placeholder Size)
Alterable Morphic: The Living Library can be changed much as the Material Plane can be.
Minor Positive Dominant: Although a bit drab compared to most other positive dominant planes, the Living Library does have some positive energy as a remnant of when it was mostly used by celestials. All inhabitants of and travelers to the Living Library gain fast healing 2 as an extraordinary ability.
Mildly Good Aligned: Yet another remnant of the times celestials used the Living Library.
Limited and Impeded Magic: All spells that deal damage are impeded. In addition, any spells of the fire and acid descriptors simply don't work in the Living Library.
How to Get to the Living Library: As the introduction above outlined, the Living Library is close to where the Astral Plane meets the Upper Planes. As such, anyone who travels around that area long enough eventually finds the gate to the Library. The gate to the Library looks like a very large open book with the pages acting as the portal. Anyone who goes through that portal ends up in the Library proper.

The Traps and Guardians of the Living Library
Since almost all of the stock the Library is of at least above average value (for obvious reasons), the three caretakers of the Living Library employ many traps, and have at least Tileous on active guard.

The Story of the Living Library
How the library came to be, and maybe some other stuff.

******

For as long as many of them can remember, the angels have held the secrets of the books that could move and talk. And, as we all know, angels always keep their word. But this alone could not have kept the Secrets from reaching mortal hands, for there are many angels who think that, just because their forebears before them gave a promise, that does not mean that they should have to keep it. This train of thought was especially common for those who were of both angelic and mortal blood.
