So, with SCAG out, I wanted to see where we stood with a supportive martial character. We've got mastermind, swashbuckler, PDK, and even long death monk with some utility options. Also totem barbarian, who barely qualifies, but I put PDK on the list so /shrug.

Mastermind and long death monk offer the weirdest but best combo imo. You've got supportive resource abilities beyond your stun, but you can do a large AOE frighten every round and grant an ally advantage on an attack as BA at range. So every round you can debuff a group of enemies with disadvantage, keep them from moving towards you (stay near the squishies and they are safe from melee at least) and apply the BA advantage while staying on the back lines. With your ability to toss stuns around fast enough to burn through legendary saves and the like, or offer advantage to two allies with double help, you've got quite a few options already.

The full build would probably be monk 8, rogue 8, and battlemaster or UA ranger 4, Ranger or battlemaster for some superiority dice and abilities, which give you a handful of additional options. PDK isn't recommended, you'll miss out on the best support abilities (which are 10+) and the one you get scales on fighter level. PDK is single class or skip (as in skip, it's actually a worse BM somehow).

Overall, this looks decent imo. You've got helpful at will abilities as well as resource abilities, all geared towards supporting your team. Not to mention you are still a monk/rogue focusing on wisdom and dexterity, so a long way from fragile with good damage between SA and 2-4 attacks per round if you choose. And obviously rogue with expertise means you've got out of combat utility.

So what do people think? Useful? Fun? Anyone have something better?

Distracting strike on mastermind is beautiful. Give two allies advantage on two enemies.

Bring on the warlord.
