Are all WotC books 2003 and after 3.5?

I'm sorting through a collection of D&D books just given to me and some of the early 2003 stuff looks like it is 3.0. Everything pre-3.0 is easy enough.

As a rule of thumb, yes.

I think Savage Species was the last 3.0 book published in 2003, but I could be wrong.

I want to say it's July 2003 or after. Looking at the WotC product page, A&EG was 2003, the Fiend Folio was 2003, Ghostwalk was 2003... So it's not that clear-cut necessarily.

Yeah, this is my problem. Some of the books just after the 3.5 specifically say "This product uses updated material from the v 3.5 revision.", a couple don't.

The July 2003 benchmark is good across the board, I think. If not, look for some of the more obvious changes from 3.0 to 3.5 If something has DR/+2, it's 3.0. If it's got ranks in Innuendo or Wilderness Lore, it's 3.0. And so on and so forth.

Thank you. Wilderness Lore is the key!

... Finally, some of those old skills have USES!

Fiend Folio, Savage Species and Races of Faerun all contain the odd 3.5 rules, enough to consider them 3.4 rather than 3.0. For example Fiend Folio pioneered the Swarm and Shapechanger Subtypes, Savage Species talked about updates to the Fire subtype, Races of Faerun has a Prototype of 3.5 lycanthropy.

July 2003 is the official date, yes. That's when the 3.5 core books were released, and anything that came after that has been for the 3.5 system.

There's a handful of books from just before that time period that have some of the 3.5 changes (usually the skills). These books include Fiend Folio and Savage Species. You'll sometimes see them referred to as "3.25."

There's a very simple way to tell if a rulebook is 3.5 or 3.0. Look at one of the tables on the inside. If all the rows of the table are white, then it's 3.0. However, if they use the beige/white alternating row color scheme, that's a sure sign that it's 3.5.

Here's another way to tell: Do rangers suck? If so, then it's 3.0. Do rangers still kind of suck? If so, then it's 3.5.

BTW, if you're asking in order to find 3.0 books, the last time I checked, most of them were still available on Amazon.

Damage Reduction types and certain skills were most noticably altered between 3.0 and 3.5.

DR X/+1 through +5 became DR X/magic. Wilderness Lore became Survival. Pick Pocket became Sleight of Hand. Innuendo became part of Bluff. Read Lips became part of Spot. Alchemy became Craft (alchemy). The Scry skill was removed.

Thank you all for the July date, and the exceptions.

So is DR x/+y replaced with DR x/magic?

So is DR x/+y replaced with DR x/magic?

Mostly. Sometimes with /epic, /alignment or /adamantine. /silver and /cold iron sometimes, but mostly they were either already there or came from nowhere.

Thanks, I needed that clearing up as I am currently using Monsters of Faerun in my campaign.
