View Full Version : Would this be...a bit silly?

You could get in to the Master Specialist class by level 3 (qualifying by level 2), by being a human, and taking Precious Apprentice, and Spell Focus at level 1.

That wouldn't hurt the game balance too much would it?

Also, are there any ACFs which gives sorcerers specialized casting by RAW? I'm certain that letting this class work with sorcerers wouldn't break anything (at least in no way that letting it work with wizard doesn't), but I may as well ask if it will.

No, it wouldn't.

No, and even if there was, it wouldn't help, because the class says specialized wizard, not just specialized caster.

Yeah, I did say "letting this class work with sorcerer". But thanks for your feedback. Good to know there's no point in searching.

Letting this work with Master Specialist per se doesn't break anything, but it does mean that Precocious Apprentice early-entry now works in all cases, which may open you up to further abuse.

Letting it work with Sorcerors mostly just messes with the fluff, since generally players who want to specialize in a school will pick Wizard.

Generally, early entry is only problematic if you're leapfrogging multiple levels. For example, getting Ur-Priest at level 2 is downright insane. Getting a PrC that you normally get at level 3, one level early, is not really that impressive.

You may have misinterpretted me (because I don't know of any other way to get a base will save of +4 by level 2). When I said "enter at level 3 (qualify by level 2)", I meant that you meet all the requirements by level 2, and could take it either level 3 (as standard) or level 2 (as many campaigns I've played let you enter a class if you would qualify for the prerequisites if you took a level in that class).

The Netbook of Feats has a feat called Innate Specialist that allows sorcerers to specialize like wizards. It's the only one of its kind as far as I know.

I'm saying that early entry is only gamebreaking if you are able to enter much earlier than intended, and entering 1 level early is not meaningfully changing balance most of the time.
