Fighter 2/Ranger 1
Str.: 18
Dex: 15
Con: 10
Int.: 12
Wis.: 9
Cha.: 13
Power Attack, TWF, Weapon Focus Heavy Pick. Track, Skill Focus Craft Weaponsmithing
Going to take two more levels of ranger into Horizon Walker. 2 bags of gold and gems in a Robe of Useful Items. Also has an adamntium breastplate. What MIC item should I get?

Perhaps Dimension Stride Boots until you learn the trick from Horizon Walker?

They have to be crafted and most likely the crafter will be a level 3 wizard. It could be crafted by a stronger wizard but the price would be higher.

I was thinking about the brute gauntlets and the boots of stomping.

I'd start with the basics. +1 weapon, +1 armor, cloak of resistance.

Note that the wizard won't take full profit but will still take some small amounts of profit. EDIT: Also, isn't craft magic arms and armor require a higher caster level than 3?

Anyone have any more ideas? I would like a minor wondrous item from the MIC to clarify.

An anklet of translocation or a healing belt are both solid choices imo

LordOfCain

What are the caster levels to create those?

UPDATE: Please make sure that required spells are on the wizard list. A healing belt requires cure moderate wounds; not a standard spell for a wizard.

Anklets req Dim door, so CL 7.

Healing Belt needs Cure Moderate, so CL 3 if you have a 3rd level cleric who can help craft it.

Cure Moderate is not on the Wizard list, but I believe you can have the Wizard with Craft Wondrous, and a Cleric to supply the spell. Cleric will just need to be there for each day of crafting, which is only one for the belt.

Can you just have another caster help??? Where in the rulebooks is it?

DMG p 215, under Prerequisites: "It is possible for more than one character to cooperate in the creation of an item, with each participant providing one or more of the prerequisites. In some cases, cooperation may even be necessary, such as if one character knows some of the spells necessary to create an item, and another character knows the rest."

Thank you. Definitely getting a healing belt then. With the adamantium breastplate and a healing belt along with my current highish hp of 23 I could be a mediocre tank. Our 20 Con dwarf barbarian just went on hiatus so that could be good. :)

Are there any cheap items in the mIC that provide a +3 bonus to craft checks and are not used up.

I want to make mwk. Weapons. House rule??? is I have to get 13 or higher 24 times in a row to make mwk. Weapons. If I get mwk artisans tools and a +2 item I can aways makeit. :)

You can hire an NPC spellcaster to cast a spell for you (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/equipment/goodsAndServices.htm#spell), and a Healing Belt only takes eight hours to make. Have an NPC Cleric show up and cast Cure Moderate Wounds at CL 3 for 60 gp some time within that eight hour crafting process, and you've got a Healing Belt.

What about craft boosting items?

Note, the party has the following characters:
Fighter 2/Rogue 1
Fighter 2/Ranger 1
Cleric 3
Wizard 3
Ranger 3
Rogue 3

Your Wizard and Cleric can work together to create a Healing Belt. Try to get one made for each party member.

Cool. We typically only have 1-2 encounters daily so a healing belt would be uber useful. But what about craft improving items?

For craft skill checks? That would be a custom item (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/creatingMagicItems.htm), the standard price is (bonus squared) x 100 gp. It would probably require casting Guidance (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/guidance.htm) during the creation.

So about how much to make gloves of weaponsmithing +2? Or some such wondrous item?

You can find Masterwork Artisan's Tools (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/equipment/goodsAndServices.htm#toolsAndSkillKits) in the PHB for 55 gp, that gives a +2 circumstance bonus. A Masterwork Tool from that same list is 50 gp, and you could get one for just about any skill in the game.

You can get anyone else in the party to assist you, using Aid Another (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/skills/usingSkills.htm#aidAnother) to add +2 to your checks.

You can get the party Cleric to cast Guidance of the Avatar (http://archive.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=dnd/sb/sb20010504a) on you just before rolling the craft check to add +20 to it.

A custom item that gives +2 to checks with a particular skill would cost 2x2x100=400 gp, but I wouldn't really consider that a worthwhile expense.

DM said that in order to use aid another, you had to have ranks in the skill yourself. Currently only weapon smith in the group. :(. So w/out the aid another, I was planning on getting mwk artisans tools but still need another +2. I am thinking about turning LG in order to use Ehlonna's relics. Maybe a Rubicund Frenzy for my Adamantine breastplate? Or maybe an Iron Ward Diamond or both. Could I use those and a robe of useful items????

LordOfCain

Is the Raptor Arrow any good? In addition, as I asked before, can I use crystals and the robe of useful items? EDIT: would a crest of bravery be any good? Remember, Craft Wondrous Item CL 3 Wizard w/ 2000 gp only.

I think the pattern is for skill bonus to require the animal's attribute spell of the appropriate type. As Craft is (normally) Intelligence, that should be fox's cunning.

DM said that in order to use aid another, you had to have ranks in the skill yourself. Currently only weapon smith in the group.
So? Hire an NPC artisan. They're cheap.

Got it. So, what magic items to improve combat should I use? Would any of my ideas above work?

May look into getting dragonborn approved. I like the fluff.

Just got 2 more k.? What can I do with the increased budget. I can probably use NPC crafting.
