Pool of Radiance?

I have never read the book or played the game. What does the actual pool do?

Are there 3.X rules for it, and if so where?

There was the 3.0 release Pool of Radiance: Attack on Myth Drannor (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pool_of_Radiance:_Attack_on_Myth_Drannor). I don't know if the pool is detailed though.

ETA: I checked my copy of PoR: AoMD and it does detail the pool at Myth Drannor. Not being open content I won't go into details about the pool though.
