Spoilers in Sig for pictures

I just got my first batch of three sigatars, and am trying to put them in a spoiler. I'm still getting the problem of having over 500 characters (letters, etc), even though I'm doing this:

Use tinyurl.com to shorten the links to the images.

That should help. And get rid of that floating "quote" tag.

Try getting rid of all the random text in your sig. I've got 4 images in mine through keeping the text down

Since a properly formatted version of your desired image spoiler would only contain 232 characters, I'd suggest reducing the REST of your giant signature to a mere 268 characters.

For instance: Cite your town character using this link: My Town Character (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2388963&postcount=416) and you won't need the explanatory sentence after it. You'll save about 40 characters.

And you could probably ditch the whole fanclub link & whatnot, since no one has posted in the thread for over a month.

You can also create your entire sig as a picture and then host it on imageshack. Tiny URL the link and you can fit as much crap in there as you want (no hyperlinking though).

That seems to be rather cheating... If you're just making text into an image to get around the character limit?

Cheating? Wouldn't it be good? I mean, wouldn't it save like, minimal bandwidth, but still some? Since the picture ain't hosted on the GaintITP server.

Yeah, but it *does* require server resources to load the image. And loading an image of a bunch of text would be more strenuous than just loading the text.

The OP's solution is easy: Reduce junk text.

Are you sure of that? All the load should be held by the server that hosts the image. The forum would simply link to it, and have almost no involvement in the exchange after that.

If it were otherwise, posting of images would have been banned long before any other feature.

I did that once, stick it in a spoiler if its too big.
