I was thinking of getting the "Tugging Strands" granted power (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/cleric/domains/paizo---domains/luck-domain/fate) from the Fate sub-domain:

"At 8th level, you can force a creature within line of sight to reroll any one roll that it has just made before the result of the roll is revealed. The result of the reroll must be taken, even if it is worse than the original roll. You can use this ability once per day at 8th level, and one additional time per day for every 6 levels beyond 8th."

but just realised that unlike the "Good Fortune" power it replaces in the Luck domain:

"At 6th level, as an immediate action, you can reroll any one d20 roll you have just made before the results of the roll are revealed. You must take the result of the reroll, even if it's worse than the original roll. You can use this ability once per day at 6th level, and one additional time per day for every six cleric levels beyond 6th."

there is no mention of what kind of action is required to use it.

I am guessing that it is meant to be an immediate action also, otherwise it would counter-intuitively only be useful when you have the worse initiative roll. Anyone have any thoughts, or clarifications on this?

It takes no action to use. Although the general rule is that unspecified supernatural abilities take a standard action, the caveat to that is "unless otherwise noted in the ability's description," and the description for Tugging Strands makes it impossible to use as a standard action.
