So I'm making a monk that would use different animals as different stances (or styles). It resembles a lot to monk styles or even the archetype monk of many styles. Me and my DM were talking about making it like a type of wild empathy kinda thing where I would be with an animal for X time and after a while develop that animals habits and as I grow in lvl the bonus grows as well. (Example: I Find a snake and it stays with me for 3 days. I would get 1+ in Attack of opportunity). Do any of you have ideas of bonuses one could get from an animal? And thoughts on my monk if he's legit or has some problems I could work on?

basically an animal focus monk is what we are going for, but with out a time limit and more animal options

So, wait. You're not just talking about a new way of fluffing Style Feats (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/style-feats)? Because that's what it sounds like. You make a check to semi-domesticate an animal, and after a certain period qualify for one of the style feats. A whole lot of them are based on animals, like Boar (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/boar-style-combat-style), Crane (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/crane-style-combat-style), Mantis (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/mantis-style-combat-style), Monkey (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/monkey-style-combat-style), Panther (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/panther-style-combat-style), Snake (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/snake-style-combat-style), Snapping Turtle (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/snapping-turtle-style-combat-style), Tiger (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/tiger-style-combat-style), and Wolf (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/wolf-style-combat-style).

I don't think I get why you don't just go MoMS and take animal styles, is my point.

Because we (me and my DM) like to go as close as possible to what we imagine a character to be. My character is a lot like the DC superhero, vixen, she's not necessarily a monk emulating an animal Kung-fu style. i don't know if you understand

So, you want to play a hunter (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/hybrid-classes/hunter), just using the feral hunter archtype, which allows for no time limit of animal focus. If you want more options, the desert stalker adds some new animal types, and stacks with feral hunter.

Well that's the thing, no I dont. Multiclassing monk/ feral hunter doesn't seem worth it for me. I'm trying to find a way to make my monk only with animal focus. It's super hard to explain, but what I want is basically an animal focused monk or an beast monk. Yea, a beast monk

Well, whenever people say "Monk," I pause. What specific class features of Monk do you want? Because if it's just unarmed combat, take IUS and other unarmed feats and you're good.

If you want the Monk class proper, you might be able to swing Variant Multiclassing (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/character-advancement#TOC-Variant-Multiclassing). A Monk VMC Ranger gives you Favored Enemy 1, Woodland Stride, and Swift Tracker. The Wild Hunter (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/ranger/archetypes/paizo---ranger-archetypes/wild-hunter) Ranger archetype swaps those out for Animal Focus, which is what you want.

Alternatively, the Stalker's Focus (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/stalker-s-focus) feat gives it to you for free. It's still timed, though.

But yeah. The word "Monk" is like the words "Samurai" or "Paladin" - it doesn't necessarily apply to the class that shares it. You have to specify what you want.

So, it has to be a monk, but you just want the wild empathy feature and animal focus....

Hm. Drop slow fall/high jump or some other situational monk power for wild empathy. Drop ki pool for animal focus. Since you want constant animal focus like the feral hunter, you might need to drop stunning fist/evasion/still mind as well.

I'd probably go Unchained Monk, and then give the player the option of taking Animal Focuses as Ki powers?

Okay, which version of Vixen are we using? I don't remember any where she had an army of animals. Vixen, to my knowledge, can also make the laws of physics shut up and sit down with that amulet doodad, so I think genuine shape shifting would represent certain depictions of her better. So again...Uh, which version?

That part's easy, just check the familiars section (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/animals/familiar) for all kinds of minor animal-themed bonuses. You can use those as a guideline to come up with more.

That's true I don't really need the monk class to be a "monk" . Thank you!

We thought about that, looks like great minds think a like. But we wanted to see other options than just take that! Thank you friend!

I'm not sure which issue, but I believe she had a hawk and a cheetah with her. I don't think she had an "army", but a couple animals. But I might be wrong!

THANK YOU!!! Omg, once again, you've been such great help friend!!
