Am thinking of doing just a one level dip for Shadow Sorcerer for the spells and nice do not die mechanic, instead of doing the full investment of warlock to gain devils sight as an ability as you gain that already with the Shad Sorc level one.

What do you folks think?

It's painful to have an ability fueled by sorcery points (Darkness that you can see through) and no sorcery points until Sorc 2.

Still, it could work. Definitely not optimal but pretty flavorful.

you can't actually see through all magical darkness. only magical darkness that you cast using the sorcerer ability.

or, in other words, you need at least 2 levels so you have sorcery points to fuel that aspect of the class. and even then, it's only your own darkness spells that you cast with the ability. i'd stick with warlock if you just want super darkvision.

Is Shadow sorc from an Unearthed arcana?
