Nomadic Halflings are a race unique to my developing world. The first part of this homebrew contains names and places pertaining to it, so don't get confused. Please PEACH, and, if you like it, feel free to use them in your games, too. Lastly, for you guys playing my world (you know who you are), these are the only playable Halflings. "Normal" Halflings do not exist (how sad:smallfrown: ). Enjoy!

Nomadic Halflings:

History and Personality:
Ever since the destruction of Seaach five hundred years ago, the surviving Halflings have yet to find a permanent settlement. Halflings native to Seaach, the only Halflings this side of the ocean, were secluded and rarely left their island. Campaigns to explore Orc lands failed instantly, and left the number of Halflings left stiflingly low. Overpopulation in Brelyassa forced the Halflings from there as well. The Halflings lastly looked to the nation of Vaylindal for refuge, but Vaylindal closed its gates to the strange creatures. Left with nowhere else to go, the remaining groups of Halflings now search the continent for uninhabited lands in which to settle. Half in fear of yet again having their homes destroyed by the Orc army, and half now in their genetics, these Halflings feel strongly uncomfortable living in one place for more than five years at a time. Nomadic Halflings have very diverse personalities, even more diverse than Humans. Nomadic Halflings absorb the personalities of those they live by; spending time in Orc lands will make a Nomadic Halfling cruel and spiteful, while spending time in Elf lands will make a Nomadic Halfling cautious and defensive. Whatever their personality, all Nomadic Halflings have a natural jitteriness and vigor for adventure and exploring. Nomadic Halflings often form small tribes and create their own unique system of living based on the personalities of those who formed it.
Physical Description:
Nomadic Halflings are, on average, 3 feet tall and 27-33 pounds. Their eyes and hair are brown, and their skin is a darker shade than most other races. Nomadic Halflings generally keep their hair short and their facial hair trimmed. They wear very light and white-colored clothing, unless they are in some seat of power in their own community. Then, they wear bright robes and jewels (most Nomadic Halfling communities cannot obtain valuable jewels, so any shiny mineral will substitute). Nomadic Halflings age at the same rate as normal Halflings.
Relations:
Nomadic Halflings are a lively and spirited bunch, but most Nomadic Halflings are uncomfortable in large cities, due to the racism against them by almost all societies. Nomadic Halflings are accustomed to hard work and terrible weather conditions.
Alignment:
Most Nomadic Halflings are Chaotic over Lawful. If a Nomadic Halfling is lawful to his chaotic tribe, he would be a chaotic Nomadic Halfling. Nomadic Halflings vary from Good to Evil depending on their contact with other races and nations.
Religion:
Many Nomadic Halflings carry on their ancestral religion of honoring Yondalla, the god of Halflings. On the other hand, some Nomadic Halflings learn the ways of honoring other races’ gods (this is rare, however, since most races don’t allow Halflings on their spiritual grounds). Some Nomadic Halfling tribes even create their own gods to honor, usually a blend of the founders’ beliefs.
Language:
Nomadic Halflings do not stay in one area long enough to learn a race’s language, and even if they do, other races wouldn’t teach them. Nomadic Halflings speak Halfling and Common.
Nomadic Halfling Racial Traits
+2 Dexterity, +2 Constitution, -2 Strength, -2 Charisma. Nomadic Halflings are rugged, but their nature to remain with their traveling companions stifles their charismatic ability.
Small-size. +1 Bonus to Armor Class, +1 bonus on attack roles, +4 bonus on Hide checks, -4 Penalty on grapple checks, lifting and carrying limits ¾ those of Medium characters.
A Nomadic Halfling’s base land speed is 20 feet.
+2 racial bonus on Climb, Jump, and Move Silently.
+1 racial bonus on all saving throws.
Nomadic Halflings are fearful of another destructive attack, so they travel far and often to avoid such a tragedy. Nomadic Halflings do not have a +2 morale saving throw against fear, but instead gain the feat “Endurance” free at level 1.
+1 racial bonus on attack roles with thrown weapons and slings.
+2 racial bonus on Listen checks.
Automatic Languages: Common, Halfling. Bonus Languages: Dwarven, Undercommon, Goblin, and Draconic.
Favored Class: Ranger. A multiclass Nomadic Halfling’s ranger class does not count when determining whether he takes an experience point penalty for multiclassing.

In general, aren't most halflings nomadic by default? just a thought.

Well, yeah, but only semi-nomadic. They settle in or near cities and towns for trading and stay for at least about six months. These guys just sort of...roam.
