so I am Building a level 20 gestalt gish and I was wondering a few things

1 my first class is cleric with the Magic and strength domain, what should be my other class

2 I have a few feats in mind one being persistent spell is there any other that be good for this kinda gish

3 is there any way to get wraithstrike as a spell on a cleric list

4 is there any prestige class I should consider

5 what type of weapon should this pc use. He'll be getting at least A +5 with 3-5 worth of enchantments

6 what are some good spell to use persistent spell with. I want to boost my gish up

You can jump through hoops to get Wraithstrike, but Ice Axe is native to the Cleric list and works similarly.

EDIT:
For classes:
Straight Cleric or similar 3/4 BA+d8 HD classes are more than fine. But if you want a higher BA/martial sort of angle:
Ordained Champion from Complete Champion is a strong 3- or 5-level class (5/5 BA, 3/5 casting)
Knight of the Raven from Expedition to Castle Ravenloft is a strong 10-level class (10/10 BA, 9/10 casting)
Fist of Raziel from Book of Exalted Deeds is okay. Not great, but it doesn't lose too much in exchange for its BA and smites (10/10 BA, 9/10 casting)

Take cloistered cleric, it's much better for gestalt purposes especially.

Cloistered cleric 5 //paladin 2/crusader 2/ordained champion 1...

So far, Divine Grace is helping boost your saves, you can use Serenity to switch it over to Wisdom. You have full base attack, full cleric casting, some maneuvers, and you get the War domain.

...Ordained champion 4//crusader 1/cleric 1/crusader 2...

Necessary cleric level to compensate for the lost casting of OC.

... Ruby Knight Vindicator 7//cleric 1/something 5/cleric 1

The cleric levels compensate for lost casting again. This requires a fluff adjustment of either OC or RKV. So far, you still have full casting and full base attack, and some great class features. The 'something' levels can be any base class - additional maneuvers with Warblade, Swordsage or even Crusader, class features from Knight (I'm thinking of Bulwark of Defence and perhaps Vigilant Defender, if you want to lockdown as well as gish, but try to lose the Knight's Code, it's terrible), X to Y from monk or marshal, maybe even dungeoncrashing if you like.

Cloistered Cleric//Duskblade is pretty sweet- full BAB, lots of skill points, and despite the name you can use Arcane Channeling with any spell from any list. (A sufficiently generous reading might even let you cast spells you didn't prepare). You'll want Duskblade up to 13 for full attack channeling, but otherwise you can use PrCs as you wish. Maybe do some dipping for extra turning pools.

Cleric is pretty good by itself, especially if you are willing to persist Divine Power. So you might branch out to, say, rogue for skill points and sneak attack. Or Incarnate for incarnum stuff. Or Binder for some all-day abilities, or Warlock for a similar reason (though ASF may be an issue). You probably don't want to need another mental stat, so Factotum is a little less ideal here. A splash of fighter isn't the worst idea if there are fighter feats you need; Paladin (esp. with Serenity) is ok for Divine Grace but doesn't help your base saves or skills much. Duskblade is a fun idea; if you stick to spells without saves you can get by with modest Int. Ranger is full BAB and 6+ skills with a good list and some other perks; it's a pretty good chassis but the class features are suspect (unless you splatbook diving for ACF's like the one that gets Power Attack).

As for PrC's, generally getting more domains on a cleric is nice if you can keep full casting as you do it. Contemplative, Seeker of the Misty Isle (if you can stomach the race requirement), Church Inquisitor, and lots of other options are fine too.

As others have mentioned, Cloistered Cleric (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/variantCharacterClasses.htm#clericVariantCloistere dCleric) is a superior choice since the things you lose are recovered through gestalt classes. Trade the free Knowledge domain for Knowledge Devotion in Complete Champion.

Take as few Cleric levels as possible. Consider four levels of Divine Oracle for Evasion and Uncanny Dodge, among other benefits, and you can get the Skill Focus prerequisite from the Frog God's Fane in CS without spending a feat on it. Seeker of the Misty Isle is good for a single-level dip if you can swing the race prerequisite. Contemplative is a superb choice for the last ten levels of your build.

In any case, get Divine Metamagic: Persistent Spell and a pile of Nightsticks from LM. Use Turn Undead to persist your buffs, choice spells include Stormrage, (Rod of Maximized) Holy Star three times, Divine Power, Righteous Wrath of the Faithful, Mass Lesser Vigor, etc. If you can gain the Destiny domain you should also persist Choose Destiny from Races of Destiny. Those Holy Stars should be kept with one in each mode, once the Spell Turning mode is used up on one you can switch it to another mode and switch another one to that mode.

The Spell domain gets you Anyspell and Greater Anyspell, which can be used to prepare and cast Wraithstrike and other arcane buffs that can be made persistent. I would get a 3rd level Pearl of Power to use Anyspell to prepare and cast Wraithstrike, then recover Anyspell and use it again to prepare and cast Shield. Use Greater Anyspell for Draconic Polymorph from the Draconomicon, you can use it to change into yourself to get an untyped +8 Str and +2 Con, but the form of a War Troll in MM3 is probably best.

Your gestalt levels really depend on what you want this character to be:

Paladin 20 would be spectacular if you trade your Paladin turn undead ability for Divine Counterspell in CM, get Divine Defiance in FCII, and use your Cleric turn undead ability to power Divine Defiance to use Divine Counterspell as an immediate action. You can also trade your mount for Underdark Knight in CC or Charging Smite in PH2.

Crusader 20 is an extremely good choice, but you'll be stretched very thin on feats.

Crusader 5/ Binder 1/ Hellreaver 5/ Crusader 9 gets 9th level maneuvers/stances and quite a few extremely useful class features, particularly the ability to heal 20 points of damage every round as a swift action. You'll get fewer prestige class levels on the (Cloistered) Cleric side, but that may be worth it.

Fighter 9/ Warblade 10/ Fighter 1 with the Zhentarim Soldier (archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20060327a) substitution levels can reliably crowd control at least one opponent every round (unless they're specifically immune to fear effects, immunity to mind-affecting doesn't protect them), gets 7th level maneuvers/stances, and your Fighter 10 bonus feat can be Weapon Supremacy in PH2. On top of that, you can get the Dungeoncrasher ACF in Dungeonscape and use Knock-Back to bull rush opponents into obstacles (such as the ground if you're flying) to deal a significant amount of bonus damage.

Your weapon of choice should be possibly a Greathorn Minotaur Greathammer (MMIV, 19-20/x4 crit) or a Kaorti Resin (http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/re/20031014a) Falchion (18-20/x4) or a Spiked Chain (Living Chain in MIC is a +1 weapon with a 2,000 gp effect added, +X upgrades increase the +1 portion of the cost, add Sweeping, only if you're using trips) or a Ritiik (Frostburn, it lodges into the opponent and gives you a free trip, then deals extra damage equal to the initial hit when you extract it).

You should put (Extended) Greater Magic Weapon on your primary weapon every day to make it a +5 weapon, so you don't have to spend that much on it. You should also cast (DMM: Persistent) Shield and (Extended) Greater Luminous Armor every day, and put (Lesser Rod of Extended) Magic Vestment on both effects to give them each a +5 bonus. Wear a Monk's Belt to add your Wis bonus to your AC, since with those spells you won't even need to wear armor or carry a shield.

If you're getting Persistent Spell, then you want Divine Metamagic: Persist. And if you're getting Divine Metamagic: Persist, then you want as many Turn Undead uses as you can get. You can get up to six from items pretty easily (4 from a nightstick and 2 from a reliquary holy symbol), but beyond that, you'll need the Extra Turning feat. And one more spell persisted is usually going to be better than what you can get from any two other feats, so you're likely to end up spending almost all of your feats on Extra Turning.

The best options for gestalt are those that either work passively or improve what your primary class does. Bonus points if both sides uses the same ability scores.

Some good options include Witch Slayer 2 (ToM) for Mettle, which is a powerful ability and easy to qualify for.
Factotum (DS) because it adds skills and more importantly, extra standard actions.
Swiftblade, because it adds a big pile of defense abilities and extra standard action, all for a single free action per combat. Whatever wizard casting you pick up is merely a bonus, as is the full BAB.
Psion or Ardent, again because of action economy shenanigans. Synchronicity, Linked Power, Schism, Anticipatory Strike, Sense Danger and Temporal Acceleration are the big ones. Also comes with other manifesting as a bonus. Ardent gets less powers but is based on Wis, psions get bonus feats and more powers in exchange for needing Int.
Paladin (with Serenity), because it gives you wisdom to saves and TU uses, which is pretty big. Also full BAB and a few nifty spells, but that's not why you take it.
Any martial adept (ToB) because boost and especially counters rock, even if you never plan to melee. Warblade is probably the best for utility (Diamond Mind save replacers, Iron Heart Surge and White Raven Tactics, and you can pick it up with a dip). If you do want to melee strikes beat having to full attack by a mile and are a lot more fun to play with.
Ordained Champion has some of the sweetest abilities for a melee cleric you'll find, including Channel Spell. The only downside is the lost casting, which you can negate with gestalt.
Ruby Knight Vindicator, if your DM doesn't ban it on account of being a dual progression class. Aside from stacking maneuvers and casting it's also the only way to get more than one swift action a turn afaik.
Shiba Protector (OA) costs 3 crap feats to enter, but it adds wisdom to attack and damage (on top of strength), so it can be worth it on a melee cleric. You can get Iron Will from the Otyugh Hole, Alertness as a bonus feat and Combat Expertise by dipping a level of fighter or feat rogue.
