So, I'm playing Medieval Total War 2 as the English. I have a Mongol problem. In MTW 1, all you had to do was kill the Khan and the Mongol forces retreated into Asia. Apparently that doesn't work anymore, as Kublai Khan's successor is currently laughing at me from Antioch. I thought I might be able to win against them like any other faction, by taking all their cities or destroying the royal family, but another 2 full armies just arrived from Asia.
So, my question is, how do I actually defeat them strategically? How do I stop the reinforcements? Because it seems like for every royal family member I kill, for every soldier I kill, another one is replaced by reinforcements of Asia. They'll win a war of attrition. Is there a decisive way to activate the Mongol shut-off valve, or do I just have to deal with them until I get the 45 provinces required to win the game?
