I'm starting a game with a number of new players.

I gave one of my players a basic rundown of what classes their are as saying that there are four types (martial, stealth, arcane, divine) that all combine in different ways to make classes. They said that they want to play a "divine rogue".

I'm trying to think of a good recomendation. would an inquisitor be the best for that feel? i would rather not have it be a multi-class build just because that seems to me like it might be an issue for a new player.

do you guys have anything that would be better? do you think inquisitors are too complicated? (i don't because were starting at first lvl, so new skills can be explained.)

im pretty much allowing all paizo stuff, and no 3rd party.

A ranger might be better than inquisitor-still gets stealthy sneaky hunter with divine magic, but a little more straightforward. There are divine-tracker (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/ranger/archetypes/paizo---ranger-archetypes/divine-tracker) yokai-hunter (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/ranger/archetypes/paizo---ranger-archetypes/yokai-hunter) and demonslayer (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/ranger/archetypes/paizo---ranger-archetypes/demonslayer-ranger-archetype) to fit this. For straight rogue, you can go sanctified-rogue (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/rogue/archetypes/paizo---rogue-archetypes/sanctified-rogue).

Although, I have always thought unchained rogue(knife master archetype) and paladin would mix to make something cool like this guy (https://i.ytimg.com/vi/OFloZRY67Lk/hqdefault.jpg)

Inquisitor would indeed be the "Divine/Skills" class.
It does have (WIS-based) spontaneous casting which helps newer players as they don't have to think out what they might need for the day. And 6/level Skills plus a few skill boosting class abilities means that handle that side just fine.

On a related note, the Gray Warden (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/prestige-classes/other-paizo/e-h/gray-warden)/Gardener (http://www.archivesofnethys.com/PrestigeClassesDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Gray%20Garden er) is basically "Inquisitor the PrC". It loses some casting progression, but gains some Sneak Attack dice.

It's Inquisitor, save for the fact that Inquisitor DOES NOT Two-Weapon Fight. If he wants to divine TWF, he better look at Warpriest (Cult Leader archetype grants extra skills and sneak attack) or Ranger (Divine Tracker for a better feel to it).

Inquisitor with VMC Rogue.

Inquisitor with VMC Rogue.

Warpriest VMC rogue would be better if you want to TWF - the bonus combat feats from warpriest would be indispensable.

Alternatively, a 1-3 level dip into unchained rogue into warpriest or inquisitor could work excellently.

Warpriest and rogue? Not enough skill points, too much work to get a decent Dex built running, not the right class skills.

Eh, I was thinking just combat style. If the skillmonkey aspect is vital, then inquisitor definitely comes out ahead.

Another good choice is Unchained Rogue (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/unchained-classes/rogue-unchained) into Evangelist (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/prestige-classes/other-paizo/e-h/evangelist) - they are a PrC with 6+Int skills and lots of divine flavor that continues all your base class features 9/10. Thus you will still continue to get rogue talents, sneak attack, debilitating injury progression etc. while also getting some deific backup in the form of the divine boons, plus free languages and spiritual form.

Holy cow, that's one of the easiest prestige classes to get into with the least given up I've ever seen.

You have to kowtow to your deity (an actual deity mind you, not an ideal etc.) to keep it, so the GM has an in-game way to keep you under control if you start acting up with it.

But yeah, it's basically PF's Legacy Champion, it can advance the class features of any class. Some of the deities work better with a specific class (e.g. Lamashtu gives better boons to Summoners and Norgorber favors Alchemists) but you can worship nearly any deity with any class and get something.
