Eldritch Glaive question

Quick question since I do not have access to my group's copy of Dragon Magic right now: Does Eldritch Glaive let you make attacks of opportunity with the glaive, or does it vanish at the end of your turn?

Oh yes, second question: What's the effective spell level?

Thanks. I've been trying to decide whether I should start aiming for Karmic Strike (I already have Combat Expertise) or just pick up Empower Spell-like Ability. Looks like I can do either.
