He's a little something I came up with that you could focus a high level campaign around.

Chosen One
An ancient prophecy heralds the coming of a great hero who shall finally cleanse the world of a great evil. Whenever a hero fails the world slips further into despair and the forces of darkness conquer the world. But every time their empire eventually crumbles and centuries later another chosen one arises, determined to complete the sacred destiny.

Hit Dice: d8

Requirements
Alignment: Good
Skills: Knowledge (history) 4 ranks
Special: For every level apart from the 6th, you must complete a trial every time before taking a level in this class and may only take class features you have completed the trial for. You are not expected to take all levels in this class consecutively, it may take a whole campaign from level 1 to epic for a Chosen One to complete all five trials.
Trial of Atonement: This is a special trial that the Chosen One need not undergo. The Chosen One completes this trial by receiving an atonement spell on behalf of his greatest enemy. If the Chosen One completes this trial he may gain the benefit of one of the first four trials.
Trial of Charity: The Chosen One must go among to sick and cure them. He must continue doing so until he falls so sick himself that he can no longer act. The Chosen One can only complete this trial by learning the limit of his actions. The Chosen One must be healed back to health by those he has saved.
Trial of Fire: The Chosen One must defeat a fire elemental of CR equal to his level. However he must do so unaided and with no equipment, weapons or armour.
Trial of Loss: The Chosen One must lose what he holds greatest to him. He must fail in a great task and lose all his accumulated wealth and his true love must die permanently.
Trial of the Tongue: The Chosen One must travel to the court of the fey Queen. There he must stay for two days in debate with the Queen. If at any point the Chosen One gives into the Queen’s demands then he fails the trial.
Final Trial: For the final trial, the Chosen One must travel into the underworld and free the Chained One. The Chained One is a being cursed by the gods to never see the light of day. Some say he was the first demon who tricked mankind into evil, some say he was the first hero who dared to defy the tyranny of the creators. Others say the Chained One was merely the first Chosen One, who doomed the world by attempting Apotheosis without completing the rituals. Legends say that the Gods punished the Chained One by telling him the secret of the universe; its power then made him immortal but doomed him to endless torment. Whatever the case, the Chosen One must free him.

Class Skills
The Chosen One’s class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Bluff (Cha), Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Diplomacy (Cha), Handle Animal (Cha), Heal (Wis), Intimidate (Cha), Jump (Str), Knowledge (history) (Int), Listen (Wis), Ride (Dex) Spot (Wis) and Swim (Str).
Skill Points at Each Level: 5 + Int modifier

Class Features
All of the following are class features of the Chosen One prestige class.
Weapon and Armour Proficiency: A Chosen One is proficient with no additional weapons or armour.
Trials Ability: Before taking each level in this class, a Chosen One must complete a trial. Each trial completed gives the hero a benefit.
Trial of Charity: The Chosen One gains the ability to cast Remove Disease and Remove Curse as spell-like abilities at will as well as immunity to all diseases and curses.
Trial of Fire: The Chosen One becomes immune to fire and heat damage and effects.
Trial of Loss: The Chosen One gains damage reduction 10/Evil and Cold Iron.
Trial of the Tongue: The Chosen One gains immunity to Mind-Affecting spells.
Final Trial ability: The Chosen One gains the ability to cast the spell atonement at will with no XP cost. He also gains a 120 ft. aura that grants all good creatures a +4 bonus on attack rolls and saving throws and evil creatures a –4 penalty on all attack rolls and saving throws. This aura does not affect the Chosen One himself.
Apotheosis: After completing the five trials, the Chosen One is led by the Chained One to the ruins of the first world where he is given the crown of the chosen one. Upon being crowned the Chosen One gains Divine Rank 0. After he has crowned the Chosen One, the Chained One tells the Chosen One the secret of the universe and finally dies.

The Crown of the Chosen One (Greater Artefact)
This crown is made from a tiny ore of pure metal from the time before creation. It is also studied with white gems made from the tears of failed Chosen Ones. It was made by the creator of the universe and lies within the ruins of the first world that he created. Only the Chained One knows the location of the Crown and only he may touch it before he passes on this ability to the Chosen One by granting him Apotheosis.
The Crown grants its wearer a +10 sacred bonus to charisma, Spell Resistance equal to his ECL +12 and a +5 deflection bonus and a +5 sacred bonus to armour class. If anyone attempts to wear the Crown without completing Apotheosis they are struck down without a saving throw and awaken as a Wight at some randomly determined location.

It is very cool. But it's more of a campaign than a class, don't you think?

Yeah, this doesn't really make a lot of sense as a class.

Its a class in that you have to take a level to get an ability from each of the trials. The trials themselves are a campaign though the class can be used in any campaign if you assume that you'll never actually complete all the trials. If used that way this class is just a follower of an apocalyptic cult. If you're DM doesn't let you complete the 5th trial then the class doesn't really turn into a campaign. Its supposed to be more of something you do every now and then and if the campaign goes on for long enough and the DM wants a big finish then you can do the 5th trial.

Anyone can do those trials on random inpulse, the class is for people who make a conscious desision to work towards Apotheosis.

I can't remember which book had a Prc where differant levels had differant prerequisites.

If you think about it, Unearthed Arcana's bloodlines and monster classes make no sense either but its useful to fit them into the XP system.

I felt like making more artefacts. Just some random things to help people on their way.

Pendant of the Tricked (Item of the Chosen One)
This Pendant was given to a Chosen One attempting the trial of the tongue. The pendant appeared as a beautyful necklace until the Chosen one accepted it and found it to be northing more than a crude talisman molded from pewter. Having failed his task, the Chosen One embeded a single cystalised tear within the gem.
The Pendant grants a +2 bonus on sense motive checks and a +1 natural armour bonus to armour class for every item of the Chosen One you possess.

Cloak of the Fool (Item of the Chosen One)
This fine silk cloak has a tiny white gem imbeded on its bronze clasp. The cloak was crafted by the finest Drow weavers and was ordered by a Champion intending to use it to protect himself while he completed the trial of fire. Although he defeated the elemental he failed the task due to his reliance on equipment.
The Cloak grants 10 resistance to all energy types and an additional 5 resistance for every item of the Chosen One you possess. In addition if the cloak is layed on the floor then any elemental who steps on it willingly may not step off the cloak until it has defeated a Chosen One.

Wakizashi of the Fallen (Item of the Chosen One)
This adamantine wakisashi has a white gem running like a quartz vein through its blade. A Chosen One once had a great smith craft him a Daisho from adamantine. Although he completed two of the trials he was a vain man who fell into a berzerker rage upon completing the Trial of Loss. After slaughtering a town full of innocents, stopping only when his Katana shattered, the Chosen One failed to complete the Trial of Atonement and died of old age.
The Wakisashi has a +2 enchancement bonus, which improves by 1 for every Item of the Chosen you possess.
