Has anyone looked at the black company book? I really like the magic system they have in it, I just dont like how gimp the magic feels.

I was looking to run my own version of d20 modern using this type of magic system and letting them use the base wizard class, maybe adjusting the saves to the regular wizard saves.
Any ideas on how to beef the magic up?

Ah, Black Company magic, my favorite d20 magic system. I use it as the default in all my campaigns (at least when I have spellcasting PCs who actually do the book-keeping and all for their spells).

The easiest way to beef it up is probably to lower the spellcasting DCs and reduce Drain. You can also allow Magnitudes to be available at earlier levels if you like, too.

I second that question. What is Black Company magic and how does it work?
