The Ultimate OOTS Cookie Cutter Nameless Soldier Tournament: quarter finals week 2

They are probably the least important characters in the comic. They only count because of their numbers. Their outfits and even their faces show so little diversity that it becomes impossible to tell Hobgoblin Warrior #1 from Hobgoblin Warrior from Strip #433, Panel 3, may he rest in peace. One of them will get their time to shine. This is the Ultimate OOTS Cookie Cutter Nameless Soldier Tournament!

The previous week (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?465794-The-Ultimate-OOTS-Cookie-Cutter-Nameless-Soldier-Tournament-quarter-finals-week-1) still has over 4 hours to go, but since I don't know when I'll have time this weekend I'm opening this one now.

This week we'll be voting on B1 VS A2 and C1 VS D2.

Halberd Azurite versus Human Ninja

Citizens of the same city, but with hugely different goals. One is willing to die for its continued existence, the other is looking to kill over control of it. They never really clashed openly in the comic, but they will in this tournament.

EoB Lizardfolk Soldier versus Bug Bandit.

The dessert is a large place. Even the mightiest empires cannot stop the banditry that happens in it. But they can make their soldiers take on the bandits in a popularity contest. The lizardfolk soldiers of the empire of blood may not have the numbers of their human cousins, but they sure have a taste for bugs. The bandits are ready though, and always looking to score some military grade weaponry off a lone patrol.

Voting in both of these matches happens by embedding the appropriate portrait(s) in your post, or by naming the nameless contestant(s) of your choice. In case of a tie the last vote that was cast before the deadline determines the winner. The loser of a match immediately leaves the tournament, unnamed soldier style.

The deadline for this week of voting is 00:00 GMT the night of Friday the 11th upon Saturday the 12th of December. Fight!

Though really, I'd vote for anyone over the Azurite Soldier with a halberd, because I don't want the old "That Guy With A Halberd" forced meme to have any success.

Bug Bandit I have a soft spot for lizardfolk, but the bug bandits have the cooler design pre-art-upgrade.

Why not insert a swarm of rats as a tiebreaker? Let's see who gets more love - nameless soldiers or the equally nameless rats. Maybe starting in the next round?

Anyway, The Guy with a Halberd is a national hero for the azurites, and like posters before me pointed out, I like the inclusion strategie that makes Lizardfolk EoB soldiers possible.

It's a viable option, but I think I'll stick with my rules for now. It's generally better not to change rules mid game. (Alternatively I could have gone with whoever got the first vote or whoever got the first additional vote after the deadline, but I didn't.)
