We did quite a bit.
We had our assassin do no research, (and no metagameing!) and try to paralyse a lich. first he was hit with the paralysis attack of the lich, failing his save. then he was balefull polymorphed into a sheep. because sheep are funny.
why did the lich get to hit him and cast a spell? because the party was hidden 800 feet away at the edge of a forest. it took a few rounds for the group to get there. the druid was flying around as a bird and couldn't do much, but he did get somehwere safe in a turn so he could start summoning. so the only things within the lich's area of immediate concern are a paralysed sheep and a summoned fire elemental. whats a lich to do? oh yea, banishment.
so a few weaker summons later the lich has had his earth elemental friend take the loot he was after underground and hopped on a flying carpet. then the carpet was pelted with burning arrows. so whats a lich to do? fly. next round he puts up a windwall.
while all this is going on the sorc. found out the lich is immune to both lightning and cold... but of course magic missile works.
after a long battle (two hours realtime) the lich is only at half HP so he starts dimension dooring away and makes his escape at 800 ft. or so each round. leaving the party with no more holy arrows, a few less uses of items, and a paralised sheep that used to be an assassin.
