Lichdom Battlemage Character

Been playing this game recently. Is there a way to build this kind of character in D&D? I feel like it would be sorcerer over wizard. Got a campaign coming up and I would love to play a character like in this game. All books(minus dragon mag) are open. Third party books MIGHT be allowed. No homebrew.

Be a sorcerer. Pick a few blasting spells, a few out-of-combat spells you feel suit your concept, and go to town. Later on, become a lich and eventually buy of the LA so that you still gain 9th-level spells.

Look up the Mailman build for some more inspiration.
