View Full Version : [Only War, 40k][PEACH] Tau and Gue'vesa Cadres

So I've had this idea that's been drifting around my head that just won't go away. The idea of playing a game of Only War as a a Tau Cadre (fire warriors are plenty cool, even without battlesuits). This (https://docs.google.com/document/d/10IJ4NQlroXgXI7wIZV13TRmIFFYi63MatNvZqqbDoZk/edit?usp=docslist_api) is what I've jotted down so far, the start of a complete conversion of the Only War ruleset. Feel free to plaster the doc with comments on anything you yhink of. Regiment/Cadre creation rules are still mostly nonexistant, but I have most of the Specialties up.

Stats for Tau and Kroot weapons, Talents, traits and so on have been pulled from the various other game lines. Only War and the RT Tau character creation guide are primary sources, with Deathwatch and RT Kroot rules as secondary.

I'd appreciate any critique or suggestions people might have to offer.

There are a few topics I wanted people's thoughts on in particular.

1. Pulse weapons have previously been given the Gyro-Stabilised rule, but Enemies of the Imperium, the most recent source, gives them the Reliable rule instead. Which should I go with?

2. The Tau Character Creation Guide indicates Tau as having high agility, in opposition to their previously established slower reflexes. To better fit the fluff I've switched their Agility and Fellowship scores.

3. Should there be a mechanical difference between the Combat Armour worn by Breachers and Strikers? It looks somewhat diffrrent on their miniatures, but that could just be the Field Amplifier Relay integrated into their armour.

4. Pulse Blasters. What stats should I give them/how should I handle their mechanics? Pulse shotguns? Mini-meltas?

5. I've had to extrapolate some of the stats for weapons not included in the Tau Character Creation Guide. Some have just been a matter of figuring out reloads, weights and so on. Others have had to be created from scratch, based on the stats of pre-existing weapons. The Railgun, Destroyer Missile and Cyclic Ion Raker are all included in this. I still have to figure out stats for the Fusion Collider, Cluster Rocket System, Pulse Driver Cannon and Pulse Blastcannon.

6. Any other suggestions for support specialists?

7. The Plasma Rifle's stats seem a bit off in comparison to the plasma weapons in Only War. I might have to tweak it... Should I?

8. I need to figure out stats for Ghostkeels and Stormsurges. Maybe even the Ta'unar and R'varna.
