so I'm thinking of making a rogue lv 16 who stores wands in her shortswords (she carries 8) but i'm not sure what ones would be good for an assassin type npc

she is actually the daughter of my one player from the future

also i'm not sure if I should go ninja or rogue

shes good actually CG . I want her to fight her father as an an after story, cause my next game next year will be a part two to my first game

so can some one help me to make her an assassin her father would be proud of?

Invisibility(and greater invisibility), mirror image, cure light wounds, tongues(comprehend languages can work here), obscuring mist, enlarge/reduce person, dispel magic, and silent image should cover the big ones. Maybe a wand of true strike, maybe.

Ninja is probably better than rogue, but if you go unchained rogue and the counterfeit mage archetype it might be better for your particular build. Have you considered the assassin prestige class?

Also to consider would be the Avenger (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/prc/20070401a) prestige class that WotC put out years back, which is basically a non-evil assassin that they did as kind of a joke, but was still playable. Also, that link probably won't work, since WotC killed their forums, so you will probably need to put the link into wayback machine or something similar to view it.

Threads to the old WotC online articles can be accessed at their new location by replacing the "www" part of the link with "archive". So, the link to this article is: http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/prc/20070401a

Possibly go into soulreaver (Dragon #297) for 9th level assassin spells.
Edit: Nvm it's epic.

(Nothing really constructive to add, but am I the only one who expected this to be a help thread for building a butt-themed character due to the title capitalization?)

Actual answers to the OP's question: Wraith Strike, Celerity, Wings of Cover, Swift Invisibility all seem like good things to have in your wand chambers; you can use them in conjunction with your weapon attacks to either defend yourself or deliver sneak attacks more reliably.

Other stuff (like Cure Light Wounds, Silent Image, Invisibility, etc.) are excellent suggestions for wands to have, but there's no need to have them in your wand chambers, because you'll mostly be using them out of combat, where the extra action to draw the wand isn't going to matter. Wand chambers are for things you want to be able to cast in combat without dropping a weapon and drawing a wand.

If you just replace the "www" with "archive" in the old WotC url's, they still work. Like so:

http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/prc/20070401a

...gets you this link (http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/prc/20070401a).

Thanks. For some reason the archive trick wasn't working on my computer the other day.

Do you want just assassin spells, or does this character have enough UMD to activate any wand? If the latter, then here's a list of utility wands (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=15150359&postcount=16) that are handy to have around.

If the girl wasn't chaotic, there'd be a lot more options for her, but anyway, you should do it straight rogue, ninjas are too vulnerable, rogues on the other hand are really easy to bulk up with stuff that makes them able to sneak and crit through anything short of mindsight and god-level crit immunity.

For spells, as other people already said, Wings of Cover is basicaly a nope-ticket to one attack or targeted spell; Stuff like invisibility and its higher-leveled versions are really nice; any lower level teleportation you can get in is pretty nice and fits the assassin fluff: an assassin must not be caught alive.

Wraithstrike is a pretty solid spell.
Anyone know how (Sculpted) Whirling Blade interacts with Sneak Attack, if everyone's flatfooted?

I'd say it works. Whirling Blade uses the fairly broad "just as if you attacked with the weapon in melee" wording, so I think most things that work with regular attacks work with it. By my reading, the fact that it's explicitly based on melee attacks even bypasses the 30 ft. limit on Sneak Attack.
