In response to the Dwarfiest Dwarf and Elfiest Elf. What would the Halflingist Halfling be?
I'm thinking Rogue/Halfling Paragon/Whisperknife, maybe with some Luckstealer in there

A calm little fellow sitting at home, spending his days smoking and reading? Then embarking on an epic adventure to destroy the phylactery magic artifact of a century-old lich evil sorcerer and his army of orcs.

A quarterling.

:belkar: Bah! You're not cool enough to even be a nine-tenthling.

Oh. Oh gods, the puns. :smallmad:

Can't say much about the class levels, but that seems like a good start.

As for equipment, you'll definitely need a mithral chain shirt. And a short sword that glows when there's cheese around or something. Anyone know if there is an actual magic item that's also a pipe?

Pipeweed should definitely be involved.

Elminster has a pipe.
Otherwise refluff potions to be special tobaccos.

What I rather like is how the main halfling from this webcomic (rustyandco.com) consistently refers to humans as "twicelings"

Commoner 1.

That's somehow more effective than any of the big high level heroes. xD

Don't forget about eating 10 meals per day.

Don't forget about eating 10 meals per day.

Its not 10. Its Breakfast, Second Breakfast, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner and supper. That's only six.

What about elevensies?

Ah, of course! How could I have forgotten elevensise? So seven meals then.

Anyways, back on topic, can no one think of other classes to exemplify what it is to be a halfling?

Halflings are rather humanlike in this respect, their fluff is really mutable. The plains halflings of eberron are mad max feral children with dinosaurs. The halflings of dragonlance are naive fearless kleptomaniacs. The halflings of standard play are wanderlusty rogues. All of the halfling committed feats are rogue-ish. There is also a subcurrent of halflings being great with mounts (outrider and dinosaur fluff).

yondalla's sense: wisdom to initiative
dalla thauns luck: +5 to a save
hin wandermage: bonus spells that help travel
wanderer's diplomacy: bonuses related to trade

And then 4 dinosaur related feats

The quintessential halfling weapon is the sling. But thrown weapons in general are totally their schtick.

So the halflingest halfling has a few levels of martial rogue and a few levels of thrown weapon master. To kick it up a notch, throw some mounted feats on him and get him into outriding, and blow the rest of your feats for the pre-reqs to get into warsling sniper.

The halflingest halfing pelts you with skiprocks or ricocheting boomerangs while riding around on a rust monster.

Why a rust monster?

Cuz all halfling based weapons are rocks and wood. They aren't hurt at all by ranching rust monsters. But their opponents sure are.

The main difficulty with that thread - unlike similar ones - is: it's hard to tell, because there are no standards!
No at all.

Let's see how Halflings changed through editions:
http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/forgottenrealms/images/1/10/Forgotten_Realms_Campaign_Setting_-_D%26D_-_Halfling.png/revision/latest?cb=20150122150623http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/forgottenrealms/images/e/e8/The_Shining_South_2e_-_Luiren_-_Halfling_p45.png/revision/latest?cb=20150122154227http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/forgottenrealms/images/6/6f/Halflings_-_Steve_Prescott.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20090527060842http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/forgottenrealms/images/d/d0/Halflings_-_David_Griffith.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20090519094640http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/forgottenrealms/images/f/f7/Halfling_PHB5e.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20140921190436Not exactly alike...

Lightfoot, Tallfellow, Ghostwise, and Strongheart Halflings are already different enough.
Then we can to add various "environmental" variations, such as Aquatic, Jungle, and Tundra Halflings
How about the tribal Halfling Barbarian?
Dinosaur Wrangler from Eberron?
Cannibalistic Jerren?
Are Kenders - Halflings, or not?

One more time - there are no standards!

If Dwarves, Elves, and Orcs were all "encoded" by the books of J. R. R. Tolkien, then Halflings don't have such definite source

And what is that "ling", half of which are Halflings?
Country in China (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ling_County)?
Townland in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_townlands_in_County_Londonderry#Cumber_Upp er)?
Unlikely...

ling, several species of fish:

Common ling (Molva molva)

Blue ling (Molva dypterygia)

Burbot (Lota lota)

Cobia (Rachycentron canadum)

Pink cusk-eel (Genypterus blacodes)Should we look (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/twirlynoodle/media/innsmouth.jpg.html) to the Innsmouth (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/twirlynoodle/media/innsmouthfolk2.jpg.html)? :smallwink:

Or, maybe, Halflings are supposed to be related to some notable Ling?
Say, Ling Xiaoyu (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ling_Xiaoyu)? (Because the Hin Fist!)
Or Ling Yao (http://fma.wikia.com/wiki/Ling_Yao)? (Halflings are greed (http://fma.wikia.com/wiki/Greed)y...)
