Running an IRL game after Christmas and one of the players has stated an interest in running an artificer. He's stated that he's okay with the 3.5 Eberron Artificer, but is a big fan of the feel and mechanics of the Pathfinder version (a 3rd party creation for the game).

Looking at it, I see no major problems, but I wondered if anybody had any advice or suggestions on having it 'mesh well' with 3.5?

Just remember to use the 3.5 version's skills and it should be fine. They won't have the Craft Reserve to abuse for XP costs since Pathfinder doesn't use XP costs for item creation, so the feat to reduce those would probably be a good thing for them to take. Also remember that Cantrips are limited in use per day, unlike in Pathfinder. That should cover the majority of possible issues.

Yeah, most of that was considered. I was thinking just tacking on the Craft Reserve anyways, and allowing the Artificer Knowledge, as it just seems to be a very flavoursome ability without breaking the game.

Thanks for the input
