Primarily out of curiosity, I decided to see, in a 3.PF game, how many schools of magic I could cast spontaneously as a Wizard.

I begun with the basic stuff- Wizard 5/Master Specialist 2/Shadowcraft Mage 3. Go Universalist Wizard, get a bonded object- An amulet of Magecraft. Grab spontaneous Divination. There's the Uncanny Forthought to be able to cast 7 spells from your spellbook. Grab a Tome of Ancient Lore. You can 7/day cast any wizard spell, any divination spell using a spell slot, any Evocation spell, a quarter the Conjuration school, and any third school. Fit Hightened and Earth Spell in there.

From there, you might be able to add a third one, but it's highly dependent on DM. From here, it would be preferable to be in a Gestalt game, but if you can't, it's still possible.

Take a level dip into School Savant Arcanist, and grab the Transmutation School. If I'm correct, you are considered a transmuter. Buy some Spectacles of Annihilation, you can now spontaneously cast spells from 4.25 schools.

In a Gestalt game, with a gestalt Wizard//Arcanist, you can prepare solely spells of any school, and with your Arcanist levels, you can prepare a single spell of each school, to be able to cast the entire spell list. Maybe go into Rainbow Servant, and be able to spontaneously cast any Sorcerer spell also.

Now, there is a third item, the Necromancers Athame. I do, however, have to be a necromancer, and grab a bonded object, so if there's any way to do those two things, that would be awesome.

My question is, is there any other way to be able to spontaneously cast Wizard spells? I know of a few items, but I cannot think of anything else.

Uncany Forethought lets you cast spontaneosly any spell you know (for wizards that means any spell they have in their spell books (see entry on spells known in PHB)), but those which you don't have selected for Spell Mastery have modified casting time.

Of course, that modified casting time is a full-round action, and in some spells that can reduce the casting time by oodles.

Teechnically, a wizard with Versatile Spellcaster can spontaneously cast any spell they know by burning two spells of a slot one level lower. Qualify either through Spontaneous Divination or by dipping into Cleric or Druid.

In 3.5, be a Hathran (Player's Guide to Faerun 59) with an acorn of far travel with Unguent of Timelessness or quintessence applied. Now you can cast all your spells spontaneously!

Check out the Easy Bake Wizard Handbook in my signature. It lists a few other ways to cast spontaneously.

The Proteus feat lets you spontaneously cast any illusion (glamer) spell.
