Geran (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=666626)

Born in Alberon, you know of the inner workings of it. You know about the guilds and the shops. You know about the culture, the nobles, the king even. The king, King Gileron, is a kind and just king. He rules for the people, and everyone adores him. Recently, there has been stress between your kingdom of Raldak, and the northern kingdom of Iskyla. In order to mend this, the king is sending the princess to Skydda in order to make a peace treaty with the northern nation. The king is holding a contest of strength to find able men to escort Princess Vanessa, and it is your turn to prove yourself. Before you were sent into the room behind the bars entering into the arena, a wizard enchants your weapons, telling you that it will protect the other person from harm, and that his weapons have had the same effect cast on his.

You charge forward and slam your morningstar into your opponent's head, and the damage from the blow knocks him unconscious. The crowd roars in excitement and you are escorted off the arena. The rest of the battles weren't very exciting, and after, the king comes up to you,
"Excuse me sir, would you be interested in escorting my daughter to Skydda? You would get paid, of course."

Seeing the king approach him, Kaladin goes down on one knee and bows.

"Of course I would be interested, my king. How soon do you expect to leave, and for how long?"

Faolan7
2015-12-21, 06:58 PM
The king motions for you to stand and says, "My daughter will depart at noon tomorrow, and she must be in Skydda before a month expires. My advisers have estimated the trip to take nearly two months to get there and back, including the meetings. For payment, I will pay you 100 gold pieces now, 100 more upon arrival in Skydda, and 300 more when my daughter returns to Alberon."

Kaladin nodded. "I will join your daughter on her expedition. If I may take my leave, I have a few things to gather before tomorrow." Kaladin waits until he is dismissed by the king before leaving, standing up and bowing at the waist before he departs.

Venturing to the market district, Kaladin looks for a few things:

-A Kunai, a weapon he'd heard of and wanted to try (2gp)
-A vial of Impact Foam, just in case any falls came up (25gp)
-Another 6 days worth of rations (3gp)

* * * * * *

The next day, Kaladin wakes up early, to get all of his gear in order. He makes certain his armor is in good repair, his horse is well brushed, his weapons polished and his appearance well-groomed. He then leaves to the palace after a brief meal in a non-description tavern on the way, leaving the time around 11:30.

Once there, he proceeds to wait patiently as the princess' entourage is assembled, offering to help where he can.

When you arrive at the princess' caravans, you find a number of servants already doing all the work, and around 11:45, you see three other men arrive in a group. They aren't notable in any way. They introduce themselves as Victor, the tallest of the three, Layne, the fattest, and Jakob, the middle man. The princess, Princess Vanessa, greets the four of you with a smile, then climbs into her wagon. A servant approaches the four of you and says it is time to leave, and he will see you off.

"I'm Kaladin. Nice to meet you," He says as he shakes their hands. "I specialize in divine magic and melee combat. What are your specialties?"

When the servant approaches and gives his message, Kaladin nods.
"Farewell."

With that, Kaladin mounts his horse and rides in front of and to the right of the carriage as it leaves, eyes sharp for any potential disturbances.

Faolan7
2015-12-23, 12:59 AM
Victor says he was hired for his hunting prowess, Layne says he won his fight, and Jakob was hired by the captain of the guard to be the leader of the group. They all ride horses supplied by the king.

Music! (http://static.zreomusic.com/music/13_Spirit_Tracks/In_the_Fields.mp3)

You heard numerous reports of bandits raids recently, but a week and a half of uneventful riding has already passed, and no excitement has occurred, and the other guards have been slacking on their watches. Victor says Two Rivers is only a few more days away, and currently, Victor and Jakob are playing cards at the campfire, while Layne is standing a little ways away, keeping watch.

The bandit near the forest fires an arrow toward Victor, and the arrow pierces his armor, and Victor falls to the ground.
Vanessa locks the door to her caravan.
Kaladin moves in front of the door to the caravan, and Vanessa tells him, "The door is locked. I should be okay."
One of the charging bandits steps forward and attacks Kaladin with his axe, but misses.
The bandit standing a ways away from the everyone else fires an arrow at Kaladin, but misses and hits the caravan instead.
The other charging bandit moves toward Kaladin. He attempts to hit Kaladin with his axe, but he swings wide and Kaladin easily dodges out of the way.
Jakob moves to flank the first bandit and attacks him, but his lance misses.
Noticing his failure to sneak, the last bandit flanks Kaladin and attempts to hit him with his axe, but his axe gets lodged in the caravan instead.

Everyone misses except B3, who hits Jakob for 5 damage, and B5 who slams his axe onto Kaladin, dealing a whopping 7 damage for the critical.
Also, for the sake of not having to make sixty bajillion checks every time you attack, if you crit, you don't need to confirm. I'm just going to count it as a critical hit.

And a new life beings.

You awaken in the night to Aaron shaking you frantically. In a frantic tone, he tells you, "Geran, wake up! Your town is on fire. I fear something dreadful has occurred. Wake up for heaven's sake!"

"Huh?!" Geran lractically shouted as he woke up. "Fire? I'd better get going. Lulla! Grey! It's time to go!" As he calls their names, a beautiful thrush flits down from its nest and a large, grey wolf with cunning in its eyes stands up.

While his companions wake up, Geran hurriedly loads his Adventurer's Sash with his things, and saddles his horse.

While Geran is getting ready, Aaron mounts his own horse and, when he's ready, leads Geran toward his hometown. While they're racing to get there, a female lion, who you recognize as Liona, Aaron's own animal companion, appears and runs beside Aaron. Also, Aaron explains the situation, "Liona was taking her midnight walk when she heard screams, and they're coming from your village. The monsters are like the ones from the stories mothers tell to keep their children inside at night. They're monstrous creatures with no flesh, human faces, and snouts with sharp teeth, and they look as if they're deathly sick." You recognize these creatures as Festrogs. (https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/68/4e/9a/684e9a0f3bc7a626237cf4d1c8db4abf.jpg) After a little bit longer of riding, you arrive at your village, a burning mess with numerous Festrogs wandering around. You can assume they're looking for more food.

F6 gets down on his hands and feet and claws at Geran, but it misses.

Grey moves around to flank F6 and attack it, but his attack misses.
Aaron takes a 5-foot step backwards and uses his Wand of Disrupt Undead on the F3, and the festrog reels in pain.
