Does anyone draw their own game materials?

Does anyone here try their hand at making their own fantasy maps for games? I like doing it, but I've never been too good at it. What tools do people use, and what resources do you use for textures/place names and things?

I usually make my own maps, always with pencil and using at least a 1cm x 1cm paper so the outlines wont be too smudgy with all the lines. Its also easier for character placement that we usually do with pencil as well. Sometimes I use map geberators which you can easily find just by googling, but at times I copy shorelines from actual maps on this globe and try to make sense with logical placements of mountains and other plains.

Place names have never been my forte... depending on the game I migjt make generic Russiam sounding names and so on, but at times I look up names that are very unlike what we have here in Finland so it would sound foreign. And being Finnish, I sometimed translate Finnish cities and villages into English... I am lazy. :P
