Space..... The final frontier.... That's how that old show went. Humans had always drempt of traveling the stars, making homes on distant planets. It was thst same force that made to shows that carried over into the first half if the 21st century. On the Earth year 2053, man took it first leap into the void.
Centuries of dreamers and scientists had lead up to this moment, for it truly was…

Manifest Destiny

…but the perfect world they wanted did not come to pass, for with them they brought the evils if sentient life. Crime spread amoung the weaker colonies, while old world hate and competition over resources drives skirmishes and even wars between them. New faces brings new dangers, and raiders and pirates scour the cosmos, looking for their next plunder. Drugs still run rampant, and corrupted men spread corrupt business everywhere they touchdown.

The Earth year is 2153, and the future belongs to those brave enough to make it.

You are in a cave, with no recollection of how you got here. It is dark despite your enhancements. You feel a force pulling you down the tunnel…a force you cannot resist.

As you walk you hear a machine running at the end. It keeps turning on for two seconds then stopping. For an unknown reason, you are drawn to this sound.

As you get closer the sound grows louder. ....vum vum…vum vum…. As you walk you realise there are shadows close to you, following the same sound.

You reach the end of the tunnel, arriving at a cavern. The shadows dissipate next to you, as a light shines on a walkway before you leading to the center, where an odd blue orb shines out of a metal cage-like device. It pulses with the sound, which has increased in speed and volume.

You cannot help but cross the walkway. You're drawn to the orb like a moth to a flame. The sound is echoing in your head. You reach out to touch it.

Then the light, and the orb, flash out. The sound ceases. From the dark, only feet from your face, a gravely electronic voice speaks.

"The daughter of another race seeking gidhood through their machines......we knew others would fall to it's temptation...."

Then from the pit below glows hundreds of red glowing eyes. They hum with the sound from before, but now it echos from all over hundreds of times. From in front of you the sound loudly returns beneath a bigger set if red eyes, flickering with enery.

"Soon......we shall meet in the flesh..... In a manner of speaking.......

You feel steel wires touch your skin, coiling all over it. They start to dig into your flesh, around even your plating.

"...and soon..... You will learn the nature of gods....."

You try to scream, but nothing comes out.

You feel no pain. Only cold numbness.

*beep beep beep*

You jolt awake. Before you is Cora, your handy robot Secretary... Thing.

It play a recording if Robin Williams yelling "good morning". Then speaks:

"time to get to today's tasks...are you okay...I sense you are scared....."

The side of the bed greets her slow shuffle with a cool jester. "A dream", she admits, feeling where some wires pierced skin. The waking world already smudging the finer details.

*updating dream journal*

"Noise" floods in as her various computer sleep modes toggle off. Her chats, news feeds, status reports, etc. all pouring in.

"Howdy. Anything need my attention?" She starts getting ready. She slips on some clothes. Holos wrestle for her attention as the walls disappear behind them. She brushes her teeth and plugs into her computer.

*update 50% complete* "If you really want to sense it I'll make my night public on the severs."

"Let's have some fun today."

Cora acknowledges your response. "Oh...yes dreaming...well ut must not have been a good one....I analysed some if your good ones before, like the one with the ponies. You should just dream those." it says, not really understanding still how dreaming works. "Oh! It the oen with that one lady...the one where you both had no clothes and kept rubbing up on each other. You really liked that one, and it got your heart going and your dopamine levels rising." it stops.

You don't think it's making fun if you, as it never is when it suggests it, but it just doesn't understand the complexities of those feelings..... Least not from anything but text and images. But that was just data......not real thoughts.

It contunues. "By the way the Deriki and the carivalin are fighting again...so what you thinking for breakfast...Frank suggested Waffles...."

Her mouth full, she swallows the paste and flushes the toothbrush. Tossing the things in a secure container.

"Oh, don't remind me", She smiles. "I should just have those dreams."

A hand presses on Cora's brain and Farah walks past it out of the room. "We really need to improve your experiences. Get you some of those feels. You'd like it." Half-joking with it, "Have anything in mind?"

Her morning energy perks up to news of a fight. "Really. Let me go yell at them." She starts walking toward the mess hall.

"good idea. Those two are likely causing problems like fighting and gambling. Which reminds me, I already posted action on Murto knocking out that Reptilian biped. He sure can fight!" it says, wheeling after you.

............

On you way to the mess hall you encounter the fight in question. A ring has been formed out of the two sides, though your crews has many more Carivalin than Deriki.

Two figures stand in the middle. Both are going at it like wild animals (A not too unfair comparison), but have kept it to only fists and such.

The first is the Deriki. You know him as Murto Rejruc of clan Rufgtrei, as well as he happens to be both a veteran soldier and your current weapons specialist. His chitin plating is almost as tough as his no holding back attitude towards conflicts. That said....you know he's not stupid. Least...for a Deriki.

The other... who likely started this in the first place...is Zaharg. He's...useful for more tech based stuff. Especially the explosive type. He always had a certain level of professional charm for a creepy lizard faced pyromaniac. He does however have a short fuse.......

You recall that this is the third time since you hired Zaharg that this (bleep) has happened...but then again..... They are former foes likely. History can be a pain.

They keep fighting, shouting in what seems to be Carivalish, too caught up in their conflict to notice your approach. Murto gets a good shot in on Zaharg, but is countered by a headbutt.

She falls into the crowd without drawing any special attention to herself. Joining in with the crew. "Nice it's not over yet", she says to an enthusiastic carivalin next to her.

Scrambling back and forth to get a good view as the fight moves around. She tip toes at parts to get line of sight. Cheering on the underdog, "Get him Zaharg! Go for the soft spots!"

hand ax ranger
2015-12-26, 10:00 PM
Zaharg hears you cheer him on, honestly surprised you take a side rather than call off the fight. He speaks back in Iigarn. " yes Ms. In'am. I'll kick his (bleep) right for you."

He charges in, knocking Murto flat on his back. The two wrestle on the ground for a bit before Murto gets knocked around a few too many times. Zaharg stands up and takes advantage of his current flatfooted status and kicks him across the face.

Murto stops resisting, not dead but fully knocked out .

The Carivalin cheer. Dancing like fools as the three Deriki drag off Murto. Zaharg taunts them. "Ha..look...his man (bleeps) have to drag him off he's so beat down...should of stayed in your holes chitin hides!" they all point and humiliated them.

Zaharg, not forgetting your backing him, turns and crosses his arms cross his chest in an X to you. (A sign of respect among his people.) "My thanks Ms. In'am, when I first heard you I thought my hide was skinned. But nice to see you've retained a loyalty started by your father. The Deriki are weak with pride, full of confidence over the skirmishes on Cyprus 2 all those years ago......Murto's a fool to think it was them who truly won that conflict...that planet was rightfully ours! Their stupid colonies stole it from us!"

For a second he stops. " .of course...you must already know all this, what with your fathers involvement in that."

She cheers 'em on till Murto is out. Emotionally bracing herself at the face kick.

She hears Zaharg out before gesturing him to pause.

Pointing at a couple Carivalin she shouts at them, "Help Murto out." Motioning to some of the Deriki already helping him. If they give her any delay she'll yell at them more, "Now!"

"You played nice and didn't kill him so I can put away my knife for now." She flashes her teeth. "What. Are you from Cyprus 2?"

He laughs at your dark sense of humour, though with eith a touch of nervous.

The Carivalin stand staring at you as you tell St them...not really understanding. Zaharg repeats your orders in his native tounge, and they get straight to it."not all of them speak the desert ones tounge as I do. he says, switching the conversation back to Iigarn

He then awsers your question. "Yes I was there....and not just for the war.....thst was my home. It is for this I hope you don't mind if I'm a touchy one on this subject, as losing your boyhood home to filthy (Carivalin tounge) is not a particularly hspoy experience. I climbed those bluffs, hide myself in the cool long grass. Now.... All I have if my old home is memories. Of good time before and times of death and hate. And love lost..... "

He stops there. "...but that is my problem, not yours. So how might I be of service to you today? Perhaps you've heard the old dark human's suggestion for waffles? He is quite senile and crazed in appearance..but that likely comes with wisdom, no? "

A voice calls from down the hall, in a most cajun accent "who you calling senile? You watch your mouth lizard biy, 'fore I show you a REAL (bleep)-whoopin!"

She can sort of, kind of make out a few of Zaharg's words, but she can only guess at the full meaning. An entirely unpleasant feeling. Completely willing to make a fool of herself she gives some low volumes guesses at a couple of the worlds she couldn't understand. "A shame. Not all of me speaks the tongue as well as I should."

It looks like she wants to ask more about him. The intent however fades as she decides not to pry. "We each have our history. I'll leave you with yours." She shrugs.

"Sounds about right. It's nice that you'll be joining me for breakfast. I needed someone to practice Carvalin on." She smiles. "I'll do the heavy lifting. I've struggled on a character. It'd be nice to get a fluent speaker to help out."

She stays (simply?) entertained as the "chef" acts up. She replies back, "Grandpa! How are those waffles? I heard your making junk food again. How many times has it been this month? I'd be malnourished by now if I didn't have a nutrient tank.." Making sure Zaharg notices her signal to follow, she starts a paced toward the kitchen. Stopping outside of it and looking in.

You see a old balding Black man mixing a bowl of waffle batter, wearing a apron reading "should do mire than just kiss thus cook!"over a denim shirt and no pants....though with the man's bionic legs that's reasonable. He speaks up as he hears you walking down the hall.

"Girl, who you calling Gramps!? I still got plenty a Uh-ra left in me!" He bangs his chest as he says this "Here I am making yo (bleep) sum tasty homemade Waffles an you hasslin me bout how they junk? Well you wouldn't know a good waffle if it jumped up an slapped ya outta yo chair!"

"Alright, alright. You win Gramps. I'll try to find some good waffles, somewhere. I better start looking." Passing through she gave her morning teasing.

In and out, she'll leave him to his work expecting not a half bad breakfast. She'll look around for her escapee.

A list of stolen, named images pops up into her hud overlaying on their flesh and blood counterparts. Farah will go over the pictures in her head while keeping an eye out for Zaharg. She is still getting to know everyone, and her self-made cheat sheets help her out with the crew she doesn't interact with all that much. A pulse on how the crew is forming up isn't too bad either.

You awaken to the sounds of beeping on the speaker on the wall. As sleep leaves your eyes the rooms nature rereveils itself to you. It is a hotel room, and thought mildly decorationed it is at least well maintained.

Part of you wonders how in the name of the sun you ended up here, but then again..... You've been asking yourself thst for awhile.

What you recall is that the family business has been taken over by thugs..no...Having thugs and cutthroats in fancy clothes trying to take over the family business. Your father was a fool to put it all on the line, risking Gran Fuosei's great legacy to the hands of such dispicable people. You almost didn't care when he got what was coming to him, when they shot him down after you ran. The sick freaks sent footage of it, just to get to you.

And that's why. Why you're here far from home, hiding in a human colony of all places. But here's where "Dave" had flown you. That's was not his real name of course, but a codename as to keep your Identities hidden. You chose your own code name, he chose Dave.

The beeping continues. It comes from a screen in the wall, identifying that there's a request of someone to speak with you.

"True."

If it was anyone else showing her disrespect they'd be starting trouble; however, Frank is something special. A bit of disrespect she can handle. "Morning. Gramps. I know. That's everyday." She wasn't too humble to admit that.

"Yes, it'd seem so." She jokingly gives Zaharg a menacing glance, but catches her own haphazard slip. And, gives herself a warning not to become too friendly with the crew.

She moves into the kitchen to watch the iron. Basically, offering to help out making breakfast, she'll move around aiding Frank."I'm good with a hot cereal most days."

Rakoim's eyes dart around at his surroundings, taking the place in. A part of him couldn't believe that he was really staying in a place this... mediocre.

"It is apparently true: The higher they stand, the more impact from the fall," he muttered to himself, pulling himself out of the makeshift nest he had arranged the blankets and pillows from this human hotel bed into.

He took a quick inventory of his few possessions, running a quick diagnostic on each of his devices to make sure they were in working order.

Taking a moment to stretch, flexing his curved body, he looked through the hotel window while he began to pull up the status of his cargo, in storage at the spacedock, as well as the local news so he could glance over the headlines. Then, assuming nothing had come up to distract him, he would move to answer the screen while he scanned through whatever passed for an interstellar commodities exchange in these parts.

"Speak, friend" he said after activating the screen.

You assist Frank in making waffles for the crew. Zaharg helps for awhile, but then speaks.

"Ms. In'am, as much as I eold like to stick around eith you. I might have things to do. That is.....unless you stil need me..."

As the lizard speaks in a slightly nervous tone, a voice speaks from inside the door way. "oh ya....bet your more than happy to assist such a fine lass....."

The voice comes from an thin yet slightly threating Irish looking fellow. You know him as Jack Daniels, though that might just be the name he prefers.
He wears a leather jacket and a driving cap, and points to you as with a teasing grin cross his face.

Rakoim

You go over the news and the information you were concentrating on.

Current events: you hear from the news about the efforts to reestablish control of Zucuil by the D.R.F on Hera 3. Apparently, the tyrannical local government has pushed the freedom fighters back.

Also, a mining colony has apparently gone dark. They seen to be saying that there was some form og rioting amoung the small towns there. Nothing new has been reported except that the rioters have escalated it to....terrible acts....oh wow....those images sure are grusome....

And you recall that this marks a year and a half since the dangerous (supposedly Iigarin) space pirate "Star Predator" has last struck. Perhaps something afoot with that.

Business: (good use if a skill BTW). You recall mention of a highly teched out city on Helios 2 bring in desperate need of replacmet parts after a massive metor shower caused damage to it and the surrounding area. Besides… those crazy tech unions are always willing to buy that stuff off you.

Streetwise: you know for a fact they're after you and while they probably just want to kidnap/take you prisoner, it doesn't seem unlikely they'd be less than willing to make the choice to break your legs and such. That is....if you're right and they're not just going to blast you on sight and send you back in a dog food can......

He'd already started to pull up information about this error message to see if he could just fix it himself, when the knocking came from the door.

He quickly pulled up his personal financial software and the hotel's policies, scanning through them with his rapid Iigarin mind. Had he ordered this 'coffee"? He'd heard of the stuff, but had never tried it himself. Was it complimentary?

The room service sounds genuine. Too perky for sanity sake, but genuine. You do recall that the coffee was supposedly complementary.

Farah seems to be enjoying herself. It's a simple meal so it's not too interesting to make, but the simple act of working together with Frank boosts up the activity enough. She's mostly be neglecting Zaharg except for a few thoughts on why he's still around.

Oh, right. She moves on to cleaning up her area. Catching Jack as he speaks, "He seems too nervous to be happy." Which was a disappoint. She had heard about him being a fiery techie, but he mostly seemed like a nervous student. Too afraid of the captain to speak. Maybe the disappointment showed.

"We can have our lessons later Zaharg. I'll be taking my meal now." Half-dismissing, half-inviting him. She wipes herself clean, readying to leave, and looks to who will be chatting with/joining her.

As Frank starts wheeling the cart of waffles to the messhsll, Zaharg looks daggers at Jack. You fairly vsure he's revert to his old self.

"Silence yourself you runty little (bleep)! You asked you to soeak in the first place. If I wasn't sure Ms. In'am would disapprove if me kicking two of the crew (bleeps) to the fto I'd teach you do resoevt for your betters. Now leave my sight, you offend my eyes with your IRA imitating nonsense. "

Rakoim

He walks in with a cart, a steel coffee pot steaming on a hot plate with a mug next to it. A few assorted pastries sit on a platter along side it. The man leaves the door open but basically blocks it eith his body as he only half steps in.

He looks to you with a quizzed face. "Hi ha.. Oh...your one of those Iigarns right? Haven't seen your kind before... Least not up close. You sounded so fluent u mistook you for human."

Certainly his conduct fell far short of the quality expected of Iigarin servants, though he suspected that the field was not quite as respected or honored in human society.

However, he decided it was best not to make waves and call this human out. Probably not a good idea to make this encounter too memorable. He stepped out of the way and let the servant through.

"No offense at all. rather it is a compliment. I know there are some aspects of the 'Iigarin accent' I cannot rid myself of, but I've made a point of learning your language as well as I can." he said, putting on a smile that likely showed too many teeth.

He passes his card-computer over the cart's credit scanner and leaves him a token tip, definitley less than he would normally leave. This caused him to grimace at the state of his bank account. The direction will go towards relationships. Work ones mostly. Asking how carivalin expect to be treated. At least "normal" carivalin not in the muddy business that they take part in.

XD

I fixed it

Any how......

Zaharg answers your questions.

"Well as far as my people, we're hunters and gatherers by tradition. We really are nuchbto complain as long as we're tooken care of and treated justly. Most of the work given to my kind is mercenary or free lance in nature anyhow.

As far as respect, its earned nit given. Humans might give resoectbti celebrities and such cheaply! But we don't."

He look to hid waffles, somewhat avoiding eye contact.

"…whst this I hear about you seeing a space ranger? Isn't that....kind of dangerous?"

Rakoim watched the human until the door was closed, sipping at his coffee. Once he was gone, he headed to the hotel bathroom while quickly finishing the cup. Going through his normal morning ablutions, he did a bit more research on Helios 2 and the Helios system in general, looking into what sort of problems he might encounter in such a business deal.

Once he was done washing and lotioning his hide, and trimming his nails, he got dressed in his business attire and made his way to the front desk. Assuming he gets there without further interruption, he would say "Ah, hello proprietor." he would give them his room number and say "A call came in at the terminal in my room, but there appears to have been some kind of network failure that caused it to fail to connect. I was told by the room servant that it was about a business meeting of some kind. Did you take a message for me?"

Meanwhile he rapidly went through the possibilities: Who could have tried to call him, at this place of all places? How did someone know where he was staying? Surely there weren't so few Iigarins on this colony that his presence would be instantly noted, were there?

Nice job on thst roller

You know that its only mainly used for resources collection, though small towns adirn msby of the settled planets.

Heilod 1 and 3 are mostly fuel collecting planets, while 2 happens to be for Irin collection, as well as lumbe. Helios 4 and 6 are gas giants, and 5 was turned to a military asset by the local faction, The Heiloid federation (a human faction, though they welcome most every race)

As far as news, nothing has come out on that planet's current state. Supposedly they're going to send military personnel to the surface, But they still estimate a lot if repairs nesssary.

You get to the front desk, where a woman is typing at a computer. She looks you as you speak.

"Yes a man called for you earlier. Though I think he's waiting for you in the dining lounge. And old man....well....sort of..... He said he wanted to soeak to you by name. Suggested you needed not worry, he's not what your thinking. Whatever that meant. " she direct you to the dining lounge, and wishes you luck in your endeavors.

Rakoim huffed in annoyance at the continual shuffling back and forth he was being asked to do this morning, and nodded. "Very well. Thank you for conveying the message."

As he went through to the dining lounge he steeled himself. This person apparently had tracked him down and knew his situation, knew what concerns he would obviously have. He clearly had to be a human, or else the front desk person would have mentioned it.

Well, I may as well face up to the task, he thought. To simply check out of the hotel and leave would be terribly undignified, and besides that someone this competent would be unlikely to be shaken off so easily.

Strolling through the dining lounge, scanning the faces assembled there for this 'old' person who had requested to meet with him, Rakoim suppressed the urge to finger the laser pistol holstered at his side and instead merely allowed himself to be reassured by the weight of it.

"Iigarn then...now how might I help....exuse me......Zaharg don't you have a machine to go molest or something, the lady would actually like a decent conversation. One without tripping over one's tounge."

Murto doed not back down. "Oh that lucky shot!? Please..even you would not get lucky enough to do that again!"

They stare each other down. You sure they're about to start yet another fight. This…is not good.

"It seems our conversation has outgrown the area." Cora gets moved to the floor and Farah starts to get up. "Cora can carry your food or dispose of it." Food isn't suppose to be consumed outside of designated areas because of the danger crumbs pose if the ship were to lose gravity, but she's the captain. Rules are meant to be bent once in a while. "We'll move to my lab." If it could even be called that. It's mostly an empty room that she plans to build up when she gets the equipment. She's more than ready to leave.

It seems clear that you are uninterested in an equal exchange, but would rather dictate terms. If I found that kind of relationship acceptable, I wouldn't be here."

He looks the man in the eyes, glowering.

"I am calm. I am listening. If you can manage to curb your repeated condescension that status will continue. Otherwise I am going to leave."

He looks you in the eye, then shakes his head chuckling. "I was right about you." he says, voice going to a more Sicilian accent. "You are your Granny's boy. Sorry if I been most annoying to you, but I had to be sure. Plus....there was a bet, which I have now won."

He pulls a smooth metallic rod from his suit, setting it on the table. He then pulls a pipe from the same place and hands it to you. "a gift to you, for speaking your mind" he pulls another out from the same place, lights a match, then smokes it.

The pipe appears to be a small peace pipe lokking thing made of swirling metal, and is colored with green, blue, violet and yellow in an almost tie dye fashion. It seems like something a hippie might use, yet it seems off some how....

The floor catches her on the way down. "What a odd way to start the day." She lets out a sigh and puts Cora down at her feet and stares at it.

"What do think about what happened this morning? What do you think about Zaharg and Murto?"

Cora always spiked her interest in a lot of ways, but how it processed events and interrupted them was a particularly fun one. A glimpse into the chaotic part of it that wasn't always intuitive when she was experimenting on Cora.

She takes another slow breath and releases it. "Cora. I need to unpack and decompress."

"Weird dream." The plate in her arm can still remembers that one. She skims the notes in her database. "The theme kind of reminds me about that dream I had after I ran into those purist. That was a really crappy day... not just weird."

A grunt escapes in frustration. "I made things so awkward. (Beep) my pure maiden heart. I was expecting scum. Instead I got sappy feels from prominent crew members. Woman, I should have blitzkrieg them with stern a no. Nope, I went exploring. What a (beep)ing mistake.

Oh, Zaharg... What a sweetheart. He'd rot my brain.

Murto... Why'd I even give him a thought. I try not to judge on someone's chemistry, but what a Deriki response. It's not like he's shown any interest in me previously. I should have known it was all about sex." She shakes her head.

"What rookie mistakes. It's part of learning, unfortunately."

Cora simply reads off her opinion.

"I think this morning was most strange. It seems like there's a lot of chemicals running though people's heads. Zaharg's seems odd, with all his nervous ticks. Hesgot something wrong with him. you should put the poor guy out of the misery of whatever disease has got him acting like that.

Murto is not out of line I think. Sure he's rude, but Jack once told me thst Derki don't have an off switch, just multiple degrees of on. I think he likes you too, its just hr never thought he'd have a chance either. He might have just been teasing himself.

Not sure why your complaining though. Most of these crewmen are scum. Why is a few good people a bad thing? I guess I don't understand it all fully."

Rakoim

He seems to have merely drooped an act. Now he's coming across as much more serious. All feels calm...yet odd.

My. Buliti nods. "You could say that in a sense..though I knew your father better by coincidence. But that's a re for another time....for now we've got work to discuss. Now I've hired some rouges... Different ones from the ones who hunt you I assure you....you protect you. You should be able to start your operations from there, as well as stst relatively safe. But to where I....as well as more than you know....benefit. You must find me an item. I have no clue where the man who has it has gone, but I have an idea where you should start looking. It's return to my hands will highly benefit your goal to regain your company, and judt might suckerpunch the faces of some of those high class crooks that stole your grannys company." he stops, assuming you have things to say.

If I don't know your true goals, I cannot know whether you will betray me at some stage in your plan, or whether I am more useful to you alive rather than dead." He picked a bit of the herb out of the pipe and spun it between his fingers, sniffing at it.

It's a minute or two before she's able to choke out words, "Talking about stressors is cathartic. It's a way for me to analyze events as well."

" first off....that's just Tobbaco. Normal old homegrown Tobacco. Not that toxic, highly addictive (bleep) the (bleep) cigarette companies sell."

He leans back in his seat, debating how to answer. "I won't tell you who I am, and as snooty as it sounds you haven't earned that privilege.....least not yet. It would however he extremely rude to leave you completely in the dark, so i'll say I'm big in the business of drink, love and other fancies."
He leans forward, looking you in the eye.

"I WILL tell you the rest however, as I do inheritedly believe you will be responsible and trust worth with that info. The item in question is valued to me for a number of reasons. It has traits that make it most advantageous to one such as you, especially in my hands. I desire it not fall into my...rivals....hands as that would be very bad for more than you know. It's shiny, its mine and I want it back.

As for trust... Well how do I know you won't try to screaw ME over? I don't... Not really....but I do think you are a proper businessman....lizard...whatever. I give you my word, and anything else would be shallow. Besides… you're not a bad guy, just desperate."

He brings up a suit case. ".....and this..." He opens the suitcase, showing piles and piles of Credit tags. "...is just the pay in advance." He grins.

Errol and Beni

You both sit in the dining area of the ship you're boarded upon. The ship contains msny persons who have boarded on for some sort of edge of human civilization expedition stuff, for the different races. But here they're are very few. A few Humans, an Hiverit tinkering in the corneers with a device if sorts, and a few Deriki sitting around a table discussing something in they're native language.

You both have seen each other around, but up to now your stance on each other is undetermined.

From behind the counter, an aged woman you turns on the mic.

"Last call on coffee..... Least before that Iigarn feeler gets here...... Anyone needing a refreshing on it cone an get it!""

One of the Dekiri gets up with a tray of mugs and starts walking over there, the axe on his hip shining in the rooms light.

Beni had been making a few notes on her PDA when the last call on coffee was announced. Not really a big fan of the taste - the caffeine was fine but she preferred it in pill form when she needed it - she nonetheless glanced up as some others approached the woman and got their refills.

Her gaze drifted over the room. She recognised a few faces but, if pressed, wouldn't have been able to put a name to any. Things had been largely uneventful for her thus far and, while tinkering and making notes passed the time, ultimately she was bored. Again.

Spotting a hiverit by itself in the corner, she made an impulse decision and stood. PDA dangling lazily in her hand, she strolled over to the hiverit's table. "Hey," she said in greeting as she studied the device it held.

As you seat yourself amoung the Deriki they laugh and cheer. Two pretty females (relative term) slide closer to you, giving off a warrior woman vib. They all are arned, though most commonly with archaic hand weapons and civiy firearms.

The one that stands out appears very old and grizzled, though has an appearance of peaceful acceptance in his eyes. He's likely the groups leader, and has a slightly younger but much fiercer Derki who's likley a second in command.

It see's your approach as it's sets the device on the table. It smiles. "Hello. What's your names? I'm Gurbart."

You find out the problem is not with the machine (it's working fine) but that it's not making the desired connection to the robot.

It works by sending info into a loop between it and the subject (in this case apparently the server done) by giving intended instructions. The drone relays situational details to which it makes suggestions to it. Sort off like a robotic hive mind. But for some reasone. It's keeps receiving it's own messages, rather than successfully sending them out.

Gurbart sighs. "well I tried ld her I'd try to gix it....but itz really not NY girls of expertise. I'm a researcher, not an IT guy."

"Hm, not yet."

"Orientate us with the other ship. Match speed for now."

She leans back and thinks on the situation. ****ing space horrors. Another ship's crew she could intimidate or even negotiate. Wild creatures not so much. Sending the crew on a hostile boarding action is no light order. A short while later she barks, "Battle stations!" The telltale sirens about to go off.

"Bring the cannons to bear!"

To the weapons officer, "Bombard the life forms' location. Minimize collateral damage as much as possible. And, don't destroy the ship. Carve out some of those pests."

-------------
She'll put a specific person in charge of the task (feel free to name him!) and let them do what they will, but she tells them not to punish anyone without her permissions. Send 'em to the brig. She informs them she doesn't a lench mob going around terrorizing everyone.

Ship Scans can Reveal:

Identify all PL 7 or lower weapons (number,type,fire-linked,batteries too)
Ascertain the presence of grapplers, magnetic field, particle field, point-defense system, tractor beam
Identify the ships armor
Identify the ship's engines
Determine the number of life forms aboard a specific ship.

We'll scan for all of that, but I won't ask for that information OoC (yet). Expect, I'd like to know the number life forms. That'd be valuable to know before boarding. I'm not sure the size of my ships crew. (The ship can only support 26 people max...)

Since the ship seems to be inactive: I'm trying to do a called shot on the crew. It normally requires a crit and a random roll, but... this might be something like a "coup de gras"?

the actual crew seems to still be in the hundreds, though dwindling fast. the creatures are few in comparison (more in the 20's) but are hunting down the crew efficiently.

as far as the called shot i would say not unless your trying intentionally to create a massive hole to suck out everything the doors aren't able to save.

...and we both no that exactly what our planning.....
they start to turn so as to be able to stay alongside it. (seeing as it was gong the opposite direction)
the crew assumes battle stations, telling those assigned to boarding party to ready themselves to board. the Iigarin orders the cannons to be aimed at the coordinates. they fire up the particle cannons and ready them to fire off at the target.

the crew continues to search for those responsible for the slaughter, but only find another slaughter member. they do however see that whatever it is...it seems to be heading for the front of the ship.....

Turning her attention away from directing the search parties when the weapons are ready. She steels herself. Alright, you've done this before. This isn't your first rodeo. She'll let her weapons officer do his job before issuing further boarding actions.

Another dead crew in a different location signs a problem outside of a typical murder. This isn't just someone settling beef. She'll take control of the situation, personally.

She sends a scrambled messages over to character leading the search parties. "Change of plans. The trouble maker is heading toward the bridge. Gather the armed parties near the bow of the ship. I'll need you to move into ambush positions were I tell you." Who's messing about my ship? Is it a horror? After the message she'll grab a cable out of her pants, wire her computer card into her chair, and plug herself in. She'll find the sob's location. Whatever the case, she plans to open a path to the bridge to try to lure the thing down a path of her choosing, and have her men ambush it as a team. She'll make it easier to go her route, but not too easy. The easy trail will end before it reaches her anyways and the area will be in lock down.

The beams blast out and smack against the side of the opposing ship. It's hull shows much damage, especially as most of the systems protecting her seem to have been disposed of by the creatures

A hole appears to have formed, and you see chunks flying off into the vacuum of space. On of the beasts seems to have been sucked out as well.

"We have a light breach captain!"

Another, a human, gets up from his consle and draws a magnum. He opens the cylinder , checks to see if it's loaded, then closes it. Others follow his example, and three out of the seven stand in the center of the room, guns and laspistols toward the a door.

.....and a man falls forward into the room, drenched in his own blood.

As the men move up closer, the killer springs in onto of him. Red eyes glare you down from what appears a sick mock of a human head, far too skeletal as the greenish grey skins seem to crawl on its thin muscular form which oozes purple from holes adorning it's body that even now seem to clot. Fangs foam red with blood, and claws dripping with crimson screech against the metal door as it pulls it aside and leaps in.

It stares you down, giving a evil hiss, then screams a bloodcurling scream as it charges you!

a yeah...that whole thing. it kinda got knocked to the sidelines....

you hear from the chatter that there are two more of these things aboard the ship, both are which are being engaged by Jack, Frank (wielding his signature pipe wrench like a club) and Murto.

the conversations so far:

Jack: "Falah? this is Jack! we ran into some right ugly creatures...they're slaughtering the crew...." *gunshots* "theres only two of 'em, but they're (bleeping) vicoious! we don't even know how they got..... *monster hiss* "what the bloody hell ARE these things?" *gunshots in background*
Frank (in the background): "who cares!? I'm smacking 'em good." *Tinging sound, as if a metal object hitting a skull* "take that ya slimy son'a (bleep)." *monstrous hiss* "Oh you just try that again boy! I'll fix that ugly little face of your..." *clang!, monstrous squeal*
Jack:" the hell man??? you just trying to make it angry???? *sound of a slide racking back, gun shots*
Frank:"NO I'M THE ANGRAY ONE!! IMMA TRYIN TO MAKE 'EM DIE!!!"
Murto(also in the background): "It's not like we're doing more damage with the guns. that just weird...." *loud rifle bang* "...ah....wait let me try something...." *unsheathing of a blade*

your shot misses wildly and mealy hits the back wall.

the creature ruses it's next intended victim, but the poor sap is lucky to side step at the right moment. it's razor claws slashes emptily where his stomach would have been.

they however continue to fire upon it. now that the initial panic has settled and the adrenaline starts flowing, they are able to fill it with more holes.
it however seems to absorb these blows, and only continues it's assault. It positions itself to face directly at you.....

You sat at the table with you Deriki brethren. most of then are young males and females armed and dedicated to the protection of the priest that sits with you...there was a cute cop, but he walked off. who knows what happened to him...

the room itself is truly not very special, but now that they have set up the tables to barricade the doorways the room had become a defensive point...or a deathtrap. The others wanted to take on the....the things....head on, but the priest suggested against it. truly it seems a good idea now, as the screams and the screeches seem haunting now. what ever was out there....it would be better if they came to you.

The Rifle brings a sort of comfort: a familiar tool used to protect yourself and makes things very dead. your cutlass blade weigh down on your hip, a good option if the were to get close...though from what you saw your animal brain tells you tht distance will keep you alive. the U.S military garb you wear, likely for bragging rights or to show your background, cannot help with the chills running up your spine as eyes peer at you from deep within the newly formed black.

the priest speaks aloud in your native tongue. "stay together! hold this spot until we know what it is we're challenged by. i sense evil.....evil beyond even that of mere mortals...." he puts his hands together and prays....

Cora Replies with a beep "No problem.....should i go head and find out if they'e been any damage to the ship?"She watches Zaharg leave. A, "Yes. Keep you're post.", gets pushed out from the side of her head while she keeps an eye on the door. After Zaharg is gone she'll turn back to looking at the downed crew.

"*Beep* It looks like it's just me and you now." That blast door needs closed. She makes her way to it and tries a few buttons on it to get it to shut. If she'll have to she'll pop open some circuits to try to get it closed.

"Cora. Give me as much information as you can. Damage. Out going messages. The whole package. How *Beeped* up are we."

She sends a comm to Murto. "Status report. You still having fun fighting?"

I kick over another tabel to set up a barrier. "Keep your head up and your ass down. If the enemy gets past the first barrier you run. You life is more important than our Deriki pride. " I put one of the 50 round mags in my rifle.
Out from the darkened hallway the creatures rush you, red eyes projecting from skeletal faces. Foam drips from their fanged mass as screeches escape out, seeming to cheer on the slaughter.

Your Deriki brethen yell out a war cry and approach the barricade. Rifles point out a blades ready to draw blood for the vile beast. The old priest stretches out his fists, sending forth a fanatic prayer as his hands glow.

The beast are almost on you all....

Cora blurts out a syllable of numbers, a thing she does as she calculates.

"We've got damage to the engines along with the destruction of our P.L.D......so I have no clue where we are in space. That would be bad right? Oh...and they killed a lot of people..there's that."

Murto pages in:

Murto: *warcry, gunshots, sqealing* "die you smelly (BLEEP)...ugh....yes captain! Simply loving to be splattered in what ever the stuff they are made of is....I swaer if the stuff is acid I'm going to be very angry.....shall I keep one alive for you to "experiment" on?""

You press the button required to close the doors. They seal, leaving you alone with the beast.....that starts to decompose.

Crae

You awaken in the room...head still groggy from when the cabinet fell on you....still counting your blessing it stopped those..those things from seeing you. But what monsters bowers they! They tore everyone they saw apart, like wild animals with an unsatifiable taste for bloodshed.

You frown at the relisation that you had left your rifle in the room you were bunked in. The bodies, or rather what were left of them, gave the impression that this would qualify the big guns being used inside. The screeches have left the area though... So you SHOULD be safe for now.

Feeling her belt for her laser pistol and sword, Crae leans on her tail and slowly gets up, nearly falling over a few times.

"****. Geez, I don't remember the room spinning like this."

Unconsciously, the starts to pick at the forming scab, flicking dried blood off her eyelids.

"Where the hell is everyone? Where the hell is my room? Oh ****ing headache."

This is what I meant by "buying equipment in-game". It makes sense for her to have a laser pistol, and I had been thinking about a high-frequency sword, so hopefully we can handwave it as we go :smalltongue:

Thats fine with me but you cannot use that sword for two reasons:

1. You cannot even use it because you lack the archaic weapons proficancy feat. It was a home brew I added in.

2. I already refused to let someone else start out with that so it would be unfair especially as they actually saved their point for it. Plus they were Blade...so no favorites.

The room has been torn to shred by the creatures. Body parts and scrap litter the floor. The room is dark, but light pours in through the door way......

You press the button required to close the doors. They seal, leaving you alone with the beast.....that starts to decompose. The thing decomposing in front of her. That's unexpected. What the *beep* is that stuff? Her curiosity getting the better of her, and she knows she needs to find answers. She comms Murto right back, a pause carries over the radio in her silence, "Do what you can to get me what I need. *Beep* em. Fight well." Hollow words of encouragement. She may have ordered more to their deaths.

She starts making he way back to the creature that proved to be so much trouble. On the way she pulled a small box from her belt. A few plain-looking rods inside. The larger one found its way to her hand and through a technical grip the top started to shimmy and morph into a bladed tool. Her handy kits always by her side. She stuck the thing with her blade.

The horrors seem to have a connection to energy of sorts.

"Cora. Keep the crew appraised of all pertinent information. Dance on your circuits. Treat the ship like a battlefield to play tactics upon."

She herself needed to find out more about these suckers. Brute force didn't work for the heavy weight nearby. Her little ship compared to it won't stand a chance. She needs to find something to play to her advantage.

The thing falling apart in front of her might provide the clue she needs. She keeps slicing at it. "Why are you decomposing", she ponders aloud to herself. "You're not rotting... I hope." She really doesn't need some type of super flesh dissolving microbes on her hands. "What, now that you're non-function you can't persist? But, why?"

Best thing to do is look for away to see if there's anyone else on the ship alive. Strength in numbers and all that *BEEP* I call out to the others "Hey is there a com system around here? We need to figure out if there's anyone else on the ship and where they are.

Got that, no problem :smallwink:

What kind of blade-like sidearms use the simple weapon proficiency, then?

Holding her laser pistol in one hand, Crae searches the room for anything of interest.

Crae has low-light vision, so the light filtering through the door should be enough, right?

you search around and see some broken cabniets and such. the broken remains of the crew and passengers are strewn across the room.

you hear noises coming from outside the door, and shadows loom through it.
