I am in the market for a suitable miniature for my Barbarian in a 5th edition campaign, and I am having some trouble finding options outside of the Reaper product lines. I have bookmarked a handful of pretty decent ones in my searching, but none have really popped out and made me go "OH YEAH, THATS THE ONE!!" yet. I am wondering if anyne has a better knowledge of the various lines of miniature companies, and suitable minis to fit my character.

He is basically a second coming of Conan the Barbarian (Arnold version), but he uses Greatswords/Greataxes instead of a Long/Bastard Sword. He doesnt wear armor, preferring simple furs/skins and a loincloth.

If at all possible, I would love it if the mini comes pre-painted, but I am fine with pewter/plastic, I can paint it myself. Also, keep suggestions to a normal tabletop scale, i Think 1:25 is what Reaper uses, but not entirely sure, the ones we have now are ~ 2 inches tall, give or take.

Metal, unpainted. Check out their Norse human line if you want a more clothed/viking style barbarian

Ooooo those are some damn nice minis. I really like the one you linked too. Added to my list of considerations. Do you by chance know what amount of assembly is required? like if its 1-2 pieces thats cool, but it its like Warhammer sprues where each piece is in 15-20 pieces, that may be a huge mark against.

I ordered http://red-box-games.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=21&products_id=241, he came in one piece, his sword was a bit bent, but that's easy to fix.

My friend ordered some models from there as well, he had to glue hands and that's it. So more often than not, there won't be any assembly required.

Oh my...

I didnt think such a thing existed! This is amazing. Probably gonna tinker with heroforge for my mini now that its been made known to me. But any extra input or opinions are still welcome.

If you can find nothing else Games workshop has stuff that can work. Plastic, unpainted, assembly required, rather expensive, and in boxes of many individual miniatures, yes, but they can work.

Highlights include the Bloodreavers or Maurauders of chaos boxes.

Bloodreavers are more details and possibly more what you are looking for, being taller than the average human-sized miniature I think, more muscular/more defined muscle, and the kit has greataxe options. it is 35 British pounds for twenty models+bases.

For I think just under two pounds a miniature its an alright price, and the leftover guys and be used as generic mooks, or paint them green for instant orcs.

Marauders are an older kit and so less detailed, the kit includes options for a cape, weapons are wielded 1-handed but an empty arm can be use don the other side. Or and this is not for definite, just an idea, use the bits for a flail, trim the head and chain off, and glue on an axe head.

the box is cheaper at twenty pounds for 16+bases

Another option is the Slauterpriest, it is a large barely-clothed man, with a huge axe. the problem is the large exposed spine with horns sprouting over the shoulders, but you can say that is a trophy or something of a monster as it looks like it is attached via chains. Also a smaller base will be needed. it is 18 pounds for the single miniature.

Do any of the metal individual minis for SAGA Viking Age (http://www.grippingbeast.co.uk/SAGA_Viking_Age_Figure_Packs--category--12.html) interest you? My local gaming store even has them on sale right now and there are a few wearing bearskin cloaks.

Ill have a look and let you know once ive browsed the range.

EDIT: Unless Im just having trouble navigating the site, theyre all a little too plain for my character. I do like them for filler mobs for encounters though, some of the 6-10 packs are pretty cheap compared to other companies minis.
