A face screamer’s body is a strange combination of feline grace and bruteness of a stooped humanoid. Its shape and weight are equal to average human female. Its fur is dark green and its nails are not sharp enough to cause damage. Face screamer’s neck, head and face are that of a beautiful woman. Neck and face are furless. Hair is large and bushy, and can be of any color and shade.
Face screamers speak Sylvan.

The face screamer with largest hair is typically the leader. They reproduce asexually and often have only one offspring in their lifetime due to their high maternal mortality. Virtually all face screamers self-identify as females. Each face screamer bloodline has its own unique hair color. As adult face screamers who are blood-related despise each other, no member of the same pack have the same hair color. Usually this enmity is the primary cause why face screamers migrate to new areas.

Face screamers mature when they are two years old and they can live up to 40. Face screamers can live in any conditions and before they are adults, they are not allowed to leave the nest. Before a face screamer reaches maturity, it cannot perform any attacks. Face screamers keep all their treasure in their nests and they value gems above all. Face screamers are known to trade with other evil creatures if they have gems.

Face screamers’ faces and necks represent the local human population’s pre-dominant idea of a perfectly beautiful woman. If no human population exists, their necks and faces represent the worldwide view. If the preference changes, the next generations’ faces and necks will change to match the new preference.

Combat
Face screamers fight as a cohesive unit and they understand how ambushes work. Their tactics can become fairly clever through trial and error. A face screamer likes to grapple its opponent (round 1), have it pinned (round 2) and then use their scream ability (round 3 and consecutive rounds). No more than four face screamers will try to grapple a small or medium opponent at the same time.

About a half of face screamer packs carry simple weapons, often tree branches, which they sometimes throw at opponents before closing in. These weapons are rarely magical. They drop everything when they grapple.

Face screamers enjoy fighting and they can eat just about anything, even wood, but they prefer humanoid flesh. Elves are a delicacy to them.

Scream (Su)
A face screamer can scream and cause 2d12 sonic damage. A successful Fort save vs. DC 16 halves this damage. Scream requires a full-round action and provokes attack of opportunity. Scream’s range is 0 ft., so it cannot be effectively used in normal combat since a face screamer would have to be in the same square with the target.
A face screamer likes to use the scream ability in grappling since it can be used without a hindrance in grappling. When a face has successfully pinned its opponent, it can scream right to its face (or head). In addition to normal damage, the opponent will be stunned for 1 round and deafened (instantaneous effect) unless it makes its save. If no head is available or it’s indiscernible, the face screamer can use her scream ability on any body part (but without the stun and deafening effects).

The save DC is Constitution-based and includes a +2 bonus from a feat.

Face screamers have a +1 racial bonus on grapple checks (already figured into the Base Attack/Grapple entry above).

Simplified round-by-round combat:
Round 0: Get into melee range.
Round 1: Touch attack +5 and possibly an opposing grapple check with a +10 modifier. If successful, grappling commences and the face screamer deals 1d3+3 nonlethal damage.
Round 2: Another grapple check to achieve pin (and position its face against the opponent's face). No damage.
Round 3 and so forth: The face screamer uses its scream ability until the opponent is dead.

Face screamer lore

Knowledge (nature)

Characters with ranks in Knowledge (nature) can learn more about face screamers. When a character makes a successful skill check, the following lore is revealed, including the information from lower DCs.

DC Result

15 This is a face screamer, an evil female fey that likes to grapple. This result reveals all fey traits.

20 Face screamer is (mildly) resistant to weapon damage unless the weapon or ammunition is made of cold iron. Outside of combat you also remember everything there is to about their ecology.

25 Face screamer's primary attack method and only supernatural ability is their scream, which can damage, stun and deafen. Usually they only use it in while grappling and pinning their opponent.

30 Face screamer's intelligence and wisdom are one of the lowest of all feys.
