Umbral Cult Master?

An observation followed by the pursuit of advice;

The Umbral Mesmerist archetype replaces/alters; Spellcasting, Mesmerist Tricks (1st, 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th, and 20th), Towering Ego, and Ephemeral Stare.

The Cult Master archetype replaces/alters: Consumate Liar, Painful Stare, Touch Treatments, bold stare (7th), and Rule Minds. It also provides additional options of mesmerist tricks.



All things considered, I'd say these two are compatible. That having been said; How well would such a character operate, and do you think these two archetypes work together thematically?

Dark Tapestry cult leader?

How well it would operate depends on a lot of variables, most notably what cohort you pick for Leadership and what shadow critters you summon to back them up. The main strength of such a build of course would be that you can get a lot of cannon fodder between you and anything dangerous. Personally though, I'd rather have the tricks; the summons don't seem to scale well even before you take disbelieving or mindless foes into account. (1-6 over 20 levels instead of 1-9.)
