So now that I finished Date A Live, I can post this.

Seriously, awful ending. Season 2 ends on a cliffhanger and we get like minutes of the best character fixing the plot and then she doesn't explain anything. :smalltongue:

So, what is a special material? It's a material, usually for armor or weapons, that changes the properties of the weapon. You can cut through armor better with adamantine weapons, or wear heavy fullplate on a druid with dragon scale. Of course, there is extra cost involved, which is usually sorted by the kind of equipment you modify. A heavy armor's worth of mithril costs more than to make light armor, for example.

Try and keep the abilities well balanced for their cost. We might want to convince a DM to allow these. :smallwink:

Blue Snow

Blue Snow is a naturally powdery substance often found in mines near and around polar ice caps, that like blue ice can be melted down and forged like steel. It can be forged with steel to make any armor or weapon that can normally be made of steel, though it does not have any significant effect when used to make weapons. Armor made from blue snow is considered masterwork. When used to make armor, the armor cools the wearer in hot and dry climates, this acts as a none magical endure elements effect for temperatures ranging from 70-160 degrees Fahrenheit. It also gives a +2 to fortitude saves for temperatures above 160 degrees Fahrenheit. The armor also sparkles giving the wearer a competence bonus to bluff checks based on the weight of the armor: +2 for light armor, +4 for medium armor, and +6 for heavy armor.

Druids can also wear armor forged entirely out of blue Snow as it is not metal, such armor takes on an unatural solid white color as the snow loses it's blue tint.

Blue snow has 10 hit points per inch of thickness and hardness 8.

armor cost: Double masterwork cost when forged with steel, triple masterwork cost when made entirely out of blue snow.

And for NeoPhoenix0...

Phoenix-Forged Steel

Phoenixes are a primal incarnation of fire and chaos. Very rarely, one will allow its flames to be used when a lesser creature is forging steel out of iron. When this happens, the mystical properties of this flame become imprinted into the steel, changing it to its very core. When used to make armor, this material warms the wearer at all times, acting as a non-magical Endure Elements spell when the wearer is subjected to cold climates (see Frostburn for more details).

In addition, anyone with a Chaotic alignment who dons this type of armor receives an additional insight bonus to their AC, a bonus equal to 1/4 of their HD (minimum 1). Conversely, anyone with a Lawful alignment who attempts to don such armor instead receives double the equivalent amount of negative levels, which never result in actual level loss, but cannot be removed as long as the armor is continued to be worn.

Weapons made out of Phoenix-Forged Steel are treated as having the Flaming property if they are wielded by a creature with a Chaotic alignment. If wielded by a Lawful creature, this damage is instead dealt to them whenever they would hit an enemy, and any Fire Resistance/Immunity they possess doesn't apply to that damage.

Phoenix-Forged Steel has 30 hit points per inch of thickness and hardness 10.

Armor/Shield/Other Cost: As Mithral +50%.

Weapon Cost: +2,000 gp, and enchantments cost an extra 25%.

Faux Dragon Scale

Favored by the stingy and the ecologically conscious, this is fake dragon scale. It appear similar, but it is actually constructed out of resin extracted from rare trees. Faux Dragon Hide functions no differently from steel, but it is not metallic. As such, druids may wear it without incurring penalties, and other abilities do not treat it as metal.

Faux Dragon Scale has 15 hit points per inch of thickness and hardness 10.

Armor made from this material costs 100 gp more for light armor, 200 gp for medium armor, and 300 gp for heavy armor.

this is for the slippery little hawk, or is he an octopus, hard to tell with the gifs.

Silent Hawk Feathers

These feathers are friction-less; they do not make any sound when moving and even light slides right past making them each look like an empty black abyss in the shape of a feather. any medium armor, light armor, or shield normally not made out of metal can be made out of these feathers. These armors and shields are considered masterwork except the armor check penalty is reduced to 0. shields confer a +1 deflection bonus to ac to the wielder. Armor made out of this material grants a +3 competence bonus to hide and move silently checks, and increases base land speed by 5ft.

Silent hawk feathers have 15 hp per inch of thickness and 7 hardness, however any attack made to sunder or destroy an object made of silent hawk feathers suffers a 20% miss chance.

cost: light armor +6000g, medium armor +10000g, shield +3000g

Is it weird that my first gut reaction was the Dwarf Fortress player in me balking at Dwarvencraft and Elvencraft being equated?
Oh well, time I contributed.

Snowdrenched
Non-magical items which have been treated with alchemical reagents and buried in magically charged snow or encased in magically charged ice can become Snowdrenched.
Snowdrenched items are icy to the touch and tinged with iridescent green frost crystals or sometimes they drip with snowflakes so cold they sting at the touch.

Only masterwork mundane items or made from special materials can be Snowdrenched. An item must be treated to become Snowdrenched at its creation. Snowdrenched weapons deal 1 point of additional cold damage when wielded while Snowdrenched armors deal 1 point of cold damage to an enemy when they are grappled or when they grapple the wearer of the armor.

Snowdrenched items are brittle and have one quarter the Hardness and hit points and they take double damage from fire and sources of fire damage. When a Snowdrenched item is reduced to zero hit points or otherwise destroyed they burst apart exploding into a torrent of snow and ice fragments, seemingly far more material than could have composed the item. All enemies within a 5 foot radius of a destroyed Snowdrenched item are and are buried in snow (see Frostburn page 90) unless they succeed at a DC 22 Reflex save.

The armor check penalty of a Snowdrenched armor or shield is lessened by 2 compared to an ordinary item of its type. To determine the price of a Snowdrenched item, use the original weight but add 20 gp per pound to the price of a masterwork version of that item.

Line-Towing
Line-Towing items are items drenched in the lawful light of legal deeds. Bound magically to the last will and desire of a dying paladin these items are infused with that paladin's essence in an almost ghostly manner.

The ritual to call forth the dying emotions and drive of a paladin can be performed by chaotic creatures as a perversion or by lawful creatures as an honor. The ritual must be performed at the location where the paladin died but there is no time limit. Anytime after a particular paladin has died will suffice but only so long as the name and title of the paladin is known and called aloud as part of the greater ritual. The ritual requires 2,000gp worth of holy oils and religious relics. Only items made of special materials can become Line-Towing.
A similar ritual exists for anti-paladins as well and the results are almost identical.

When wielded or worn by a lawful character masterwork Line-Towing items provide and additional +1 to attack if they are weapons or have their armor check penalty reduced by 1 if they are armors. When wielded or worn by a chaotic character these bonuses are reversed.

The true purpose of infusing a paladin's dying emotions into a Line-Towing item is to allow it's possessor to force lesser creatures to tow the line and follow the possessor's commands. Once per day the possessor of a Line-Towing item can speak a command word to cause the Line-Towing item to affect a target creature as though with a Command spell with an effective caster level equal to the possessing character's character level. Though the effect is entirely mundane in nature consider it a mind affecting effect.

Dragonshaped
Dragonshaped items are items that have literally been crafted by industrious dragons. Lesser creatures can sometimes create items that are effectively Dragonshaped but those items are obviously of lesser quality being hewn by lesser hands. Dragonshaped items are always encrusted with jewels and wealth and loot from the dragon's hoard causing them to exude an aura of prestige and majesty commensurate with the value of the hoard from which those baubles came.

Any item that is made of a special material can be Dragonshaped so long as gems, wealth, or even art objects valuing five times the item's base price are incorporated into it at creation. These decadent adornments cannot be removed without destroying the Dragonshaped item.

Dragonshaped items are so enthralling that mere mortals dare not look upon them without peril. A non-Dragon creature which looks at a Dragonshaped item is affected as though by a non-magical gaze attack that causes varying degrees of mind-affecting mental paralysis. Gazing on a Dragonshaped item becomes Dazzled. Unless the creature succeeds at a DC 22 Will save it is then Dazed for two rounds.
Dragons in the presence of a Dragonshaped item are distracted by the wealth and cannot act during surprise rounds.

I'll let you folks sort out who these are for. Wish I knew anyone well enough to personalize these more than just by name though.
While typing these I had the idea to wonder what armor crafted from the "hide" ofa destroyed golem would be like and resisted the urge to type up my own material.

The Unseen Mage Powder

Benefit: This item may be used as an optional material component of a spell. If so used, then said mage turns invisible just before the cast happens, negating attacks of opportunity, and remains invisible for the level of the spell in rounds, as the Invisibility spell. Casting while invisible by this spell component does not break invisibility.

Mistercaw's Hide (post of reference (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=20249398&postcount=6))

The hide of this species of beholder has been used for decades as an aphrodisiac, but then again, so was a lot of stuff. It was only recently that a desperate and lonely sorcerer tried to make an enchanted suit out of it, hoping to feel an effect.

Any male wearing Hide (or similar) Armor made of Mistercaw's Hide gains a Tentacle as a primary natural attack like a Sap or Spear (wearer's choice, and can be changed as a swift action) of the appropriate size for the wearer as long as it is worn. Any increase to reach of natural attacks has a doubled effect on this tentacle.

Unfortunately, the sorcerer found out, the tentacle lacks much feeling.

[My god. This is taking so long. I can't stop laughing. Sorry if this is deemed inappropriate, or if you don't appreciate it, Mistercaw (from your posts, I don't think that'd be the case, but just in case). I can take it down if so desired.]

Speaking of which:

Palladinium (obvious for whomever)

This is a silvery metal that can be molten quite easily to pour into the form of a sieve, or ground into a fine powder. In both cases the metal allows for a quick and efficient filtering of harmful substances into clean ones. If used as a sieve or fashioned in a mask you can use it to negate the effects of an aerosol attack like stinking cloud, cloudkill, fog cloud, et.al. Seeing how the metal is used as a catalyst to break the effects down it can be used indefinitely.

If ground into a fine powder and administrered to someone under effects of a disease, poison, ravage or affliction the effects can be negated. A dose of 1 teaspoon negates the effect of one disease (et. al).

A dose of Palladinium can be bought for 100 gp, the amount needed for a mask for a medium creature can be fashioned from 20 doses and requires a craft wondrous item crafting check of DC 28 and the maker must be in possession of the tools necessary costing 1000 gp.

Just as planned.

Ghoul Leather.

This special material (which may or may not be made from actual ghouls) can be used to make non metal armor, such as padded and leather armors. A shiny black leather, it reeks of despair and hopelessness. The wearer of armor made of this armor gets a -1 penalty versus fear, but gains a +2 bonus to intimidate and bluff checks made to seduce.

Armor made of Ghoul Leather is always considered masterwork, and costs an additional 1,500 gp.

Red Ferum

A dark red metal that, no matter how it is worked, always seems to shine like wet blood due to its strange structure. It seems to have some power to reinforce order in other materials. In most respects, it functions as cold iron. However, it develops additional qualities depending on how it is used.

For starters, red ferum doesn't rust or corrode and is immune to any such effect. When a red ferum weapon or armor is used by a creature of lawful alignment, it deals an extra 1 point of damage to chaotic creatures when made into a weapon or provides DR 1/chaotic when made into armor. When used in chains or other restraints, the break DC increases by 10, the hardness increases by 5, and the Escape Artist DC increases by 5. Only items primarily made of metal can be made of red ferum, things such as spears cannot be made of red ferum.

Aesthetically pleasing and multifunctional? Do go on.

Eat that, rust monsters.

When a red ferum weapon or armor is used by a creature of lawful alignment, it deals an extra 1 point of damage to chaotic creatures or provides DR 1/chaotic.

It might help to separate those out, so you don't get a Red Ferum longsword that gives you DR/Chaotic or a Red Ferum breastplate that deals extra damage, but I like the versatility.

When used in chains or other restraints, the break DC increases by 10, the hardness increases by 5, and the Escape Artist DC increases by 5.

Bardsteel

A metal with an almost mirror-like natural finish, bardsteel grants a number of benefits to any instrument constructed with it. While performing with the instrument, the performer gains a +4 untyped bonus to perform checks, as well as the +1 competence bonus from masterwork. In addition, instruments constructed in this manner are strong enough to function as weapons. They deal 1d6 points of bludgeoning damage, count as silver for the purposes of damage reduction, and are treated as masterwork.

The cost of a bardsteel instrument is 500 GP above the regular price of the instrument. This includes the price of masterwork.

Weapons forged from drunken iron deal 1 point of constitution damage when they strike an opponent (dc 12 fortitude negates) and armor forged from drunken iron grants damage reduction 10/-, but it deals 1d4 wisdom damage when donned that can only be overcome by removing the armor.

The Paladins' Loyalty
(Warning, Wall of Text)

"This...well, strange... semi-sentient material seems to be magical in nature and of the purest Good, yet one can not find a deific or planar origin of it, and it is known merely that it is stumbled upon by those it deems worthy. Not to mention, of all its properties, the strangest must be that it changes to whatever material is requested by a Good-devoted smith or weaver or woodworker, or any other Good crafter."

This material may be made to emulate any other general material type, such as wood, cloth, leather, metal and so forth. The type of material Paladins' Loyalty is used as makes no difference to the end product. Indeed, the entire item can be made entirely of the same Paladins' Loyalty, even if there are multiple parts and materials, such as a sword, or a metal shield with a leather strap.

The crafter may only be Good. Paladins' Loyalty never allows any other alignment to shape it. This special material does not increase the DC to craft an item, unlike other special materials. If the crafter has telepathy, or has on his person an non-evil intelligent magic item with telepathy, he gains +5 to the craft check to create an item out of The Paladins' Loyalty, as it pushes the crafter to make it just right. The exception is to any one-time use, or expendable item, as the Paladins' Loyalty seeks loyalty from its user(s) too. As such, any attempt to turn it in to such items automatically fail, with the crafter knowing why.

An item made of Paladins' Loyalty never lets an Evil creature hold it, inflicting 1d6 negative levels to any such creature that tries to, and disables all magical and innate properties of the item (making it little better than a stick) in their hands. If it is stuck in Evil territory and doesn't foresee it's previous owner, or a prospective new one, rescuing it, then it will dissipate back to wherever it came from at a rate of 10 pounds per minute. Magic can not stop or repair this damage once this self-destruction has started. Paladins' Loyalty also disables all magical properties, and properties granted by the item being made of this material, if wielded by a neutral character as well, but otherwise doesn't react.

A weapon made of Paladins' Loyalty is considered Good and Lawful for the purpose of damage reduction, when beneficial, and strike creatures with the Evil subtype as though they had no damage reduction, energy resistance or miss chance. Paladins' Loyalty weapons always deal nonlethal damage to Good aligned creatures that it strikes (at no penalty). Both effects can go off on the same target, if the target were both Good and had the Evil subtype.

Any Armor made of Paladins' Loyalty has DR 13/Good, as it simply doesn't know who to support if both the attacker and the wearer are Good. Additionally, Good characters treat this armor as though it were 1 weight class lighter than normal (heavy to medium, for example), and the armor has half its base ACP and Spell Failure chance, with any further reductions/increases working from there. Evil creatures, if they manage to equip it, may only move at 5 ft / round.

And lastly, any Paladins' Loyalty item that finds an owner it accepts can allow the owner to mentally call the item as a swift action. The new owner just "knows" that they can do it. They might not know why, but they know they can. Weapons or similar items instantly teleport in to their owner's hand. If it is armor, it appears around the owner's body, perfectly donned.

Almost no one would sell items of Paladins' Loyalty, even if they could. Typically, if one has an item of Paladins' Loyalty, it's because they found it, and were accepted.

Yeah, it really helps when you are a frequent contributor to these threads. Of course, by contributor I mean both contributing to the conversational madness and submitting things for other playgrounders.

My name also gives people a good idea of the things I enjoy, namely the LG alignment and paladins. Over time though, people have figured out that I like Oversized Cold Iron Holy weapons (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19155432&postcount=161) and the Fist of Raziel (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19701445&postcount=59) prestige class. I also don't put ranks in gather information, so I use diplomacy to get all my information from barmaids (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19364512&postcount=17)...

Speaking of the things on these threads, I actually programmed some of the stuff into my copy of HeroLab, even to the point where I reprogrammed some of the Tome of Battle stuff so that it recognizes the Sandbox Goliath style.

My version of HeroLab now lets me build a Dashing Swasbuckler Bard, take levels of Swordsage so I can use Sandbox Goliath stuff, and be a Paladin of Freedom with some of LP's GitP stuff. This build adds Charsima to almost everything.:smallbiggrin:

I haven't seen him in a while, but this is for Zaydos!

Creationite
Creationite is one of the rarest materials in existence. This material cannot be created and there is a finite amount of it on each plane that is formed upon the plane's creation. Depending on the plane on which the creationite is from will dictate it's overall color, but it always retains a milky semi-opaque hue.

Effect
Weapons forged from creationite gain a natural bonus against creatures that share an alignment with the plane that from which the material is taken. For example, a lawful creature would take extra damage from creationite that hails from Mechanus. This extra damage is 1d6 per enhancement bonus of a weapon.

Armor forged from creationite grants a deflection bonus to AC equal to it's enhancement bonus against creatures that do not share the alignment of the plane from which the material was taken. For example, a balor would have to hit a higher AC than a solar would against armor that was forged from creationite that hails from Celestia.

Cha to Attack is hard. If you take levels in Sacred Exorcist, you could take Divine Might? Or you could just use this!

Soundmetal
Soundmetal is a brightly shining silver metal that is completely useless to the average person. However, bards and their ilk are not average people!

Effect
Anyone wielding a soundmetal weapon that has a charisma score above 18 may add their charisma modifier to their attack. In addition, anyone with the bardic music class feature can choose to expend a use of bardic music as a free action in order to gain their charisma modifier to damage for the rest of the round.

Armor forged from soundmetal provides no benefit to defense. It does, however, cause an amplify effect whenever the wearer is performing any kind of music.

Killoren (Destroyer Aspect), from races of Wild seems to give Cha to attack

Whirling Blade, a spell, lets you throw your bloody blade through 60 feet of people and have it return to your hand, using your Cha modifier in place of Str.

Slippers of Battledancing....well...technically it does what you asked for....but it's overpriced, requires you to move to apply Cha bonus, so unless you're charging with pounce, it's not very useful. And if you're charging with pounce, you have no use for this, so... yeah.

This one is for another person I haven't seen in a while. Oh Anchovy, Anchovy. Wherefore art thou Extra Anchovies?

Necrotic Ore
Necrotic Ore is only found in locations with immense amounts of undead or surrounded by many creatures with taint. This ore is created over many years, where negative energy has condensed in pockets and infected local iron deposits. It shares the appearance of iron, but has a sickly dark energy that swirls over it.

Because of it's nature, Necrotic Ore can only be effectively wielded by undead and will bestow a temporary negative level on any living creature that touches it. In addition to this, it will also begin to slowly taint it's user at an alarmingly fast rate of two taint points per round.

Effect
Weapons forged from Necrotic Ore function as a tainted creatures natural attacks would. They also half the cost of all evil enhancements, as the material takes to the enhancement much easier.

Armor forged from Necrotic Ore functions similarly to the vampiric weapon enhancement, except that it only works upon receiving damage from a natural attack or unarmed strike.

Cha to Attack is hard.

You just said adding Cha to a stat is hard... no it isn't... it is never hard, Actually it is almost easier to get Cha than Dex to attack, it definately is if you don't consider weapon finesse. personally i find thunderlance to be my favorite form of Cha to attack, then again i made a horribly unoptimized gish/theurge using geomancer as the theurge class, but the three AoOs with massive Cha based damage against any melee guy trying to get close to me is so satisfying. It was a sorc4/favored soul 4/geomancer 7.

Cha as the most useless stat in d&d is of course the most powerful stat in d&d, and has by far the most stat x to y bonus options as any other stat. though attack is one of the harder ones but it is harder for other stats.

Snowflake Wardance is fine if I have a slashing weapon, but what if I want to use a rapier?

Arcane Strike is a staple among my melee builds. It adds +x/+xd4 based on whatever spell/day I drop to activate it. As a swift (or was it free?) action. Since my spells are Charisma-based, I am now literally charming you to death.

And add this little number?

I am going to host one eventually. I'm working on an entirely new setting with the base classes (Fighter, Wizard, Paladin, Ranger, etc.) getting entirely reworked. Hoping reign in the tiers and keep everything in 3 tiers over all. Something like this...

Tier 1:
Druid, Wizard, Sorcerer, & Cleric.

Tier 2:
Bard, Paladin, & Rogue.

Tier 3:
Fighter, Monk, Ranger, & Barbarian.

I'll need a heck of a lot of playtesting, though.

Pathfinder's Unchained Monk is really well put together. I would say it may even break into Tier 4 levels. I also created a fix for the fighter that may have gotten it up to Tier 4, if you want to take a look (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?420122-Fighter-Variant-Vanguard-PEACH&p=19368744#post19368744).

That is similar to how I imagined my fighter fix working out. I'd really like to take away 8th and 9th level spells entirely. But I don't want people to come at my setting with torches and pitchforks. I'd like to divide spellcasters a bit as well so that the big boys (Cleric, Druid, & Wizard) aren't so crazy. Buffs and Healing can go to Cleric, Blasting and Utility can go to Wizard, and Druid gets the Summoning/Nature spells.

Playgrounder Cursed Materials

Blue Bluff
Blue Bluff is a material that looks like Blue Snow and costs the same amount to acquire, but is actually dangerous in hot temperatures. Instead of the usual effects, the wearer of armour made with Blue Bluff automatically fails fortitude saves against high temperatures, has a vulnerability to fire, and gets -5 penalty on Sense Motive checks.

Boredsteel
This material looks like Bardsteel, and even functions as it when the instrument is used as a weapon. However, any performance the user makes is made at a -10 penalty (but also a +1 bonus for being masterwork).

Destructionite

Destructionite is created when planes die, and is even rarer than Creationite - unlike other cursed materials, it is practically never passed off as the real thing just for monetary purposes. It looks much like Creationite, but is twenty times as expensive. Any creature who is fooled into so much as touching an item made of Destructionite must save against a DC 30 Disintegrate. The DC is increased by 10 for each alignment portion at odds with the destroyed plane and decreased by 10 for each alignment portion equivalent to it.

Dragonscorned
Dragonscorned items are the failed attempts of lesser beings to create dragonshaped items. A dragon who looks at such an abomination immediately flies into a rage as a barbarian of a level equal to its own hit dice and attempts to attack the wielder, even if they drop the item.

Foe Dragon Scale
This dragonscale armour is fake, but the way it's crafted gives it the appearance not only of being real, but of having been harvested cruelly - whether this was the designer's intention or not. While this is not immediately obvious to non-dragons without a DC 10 spot check followed by a DC 20 Knowledge (Arcana) check, it angers dragons, who get a +5 morale bonus to attack and damage rolls against the wearer.

It costs the same amount as Faux Dragon Scale.

Ghast leather

This material looks just like Ghoul Leather, and costs just as much, but a creature who puts it on immediately becomes paralysed for as long as the armour is equipped.

Lineblighting:

Lineblighting items appear like Line-Towing items and cost the same amount, but actually cause the user's alignment to become chaotic when used. Similar materials exist for other alignments.

Loud Hawk Feathers

These feathers look like Silent Hawk Feathers but degrade after being worn for 2d6 minutes and only cost half as much. They still provide the same protection as a steel version of the same equipment after they degrade, but don't provide any special benefit.

Mistercaw's Hide

Trust me, it's practically a cursed material anyway.

Phoenix-Cursed Steel
Phoenix-Forged Steel is expensive, so sometimes untrustworthy salesmen pass off this shoddy equivalent as the real thing. Weapons only cost 100 gp more than a steel weapon of the same type, and other items cost as much as a mithril version of the same item.

Phoenix-Cursed Steel armour works normally until taken into battle, in which case there is a cumulative 5% chance each round (10% on the second round, 15% on the third, etc.) that the wearer Catches On Fire and the armour locks into place due to the heat. To remove the armour short of some kind of magic or actually physically breaking it open, the fire must be extinguished. The wearer will Catch On Fire again next round if the armour isn't removed in the same round, although it can be removed safely underwater.

Phoenix-Cursed Steel weapons instead just cause the wielder to take 1d6 points of fire damage and Catch On Fire whenever they hit with one.

Red Fire
This material appears to be Red Ferum and costs just as much, but if a creature equips Red Fire armour the wearer instantly Catches On Fire and the armour itself burns to nothing. Red Fire weapons burn to cinders when any attempt is made to use them in earnest, and restraints made out of the stuff burn away after 3d6 minutes, dealing a single point of damage to the creature thus restrained.

This special material was some archfiend's idea of a joke, and he's still helpless from fits of laughter.

Paladin's Disloyalty
This material appears to be Paladin's Loyalty, but is actually designed to trick paladins into attempting to use it. When such a weapon is equipped, it immediately attempts to attack the wielder as an animated object of its own size (except that it wields itself, rather than making slam attacks). When such a piece of armour is worn, it immediately plane shifts the wearer to a random chaotic nongood or evil nonlawful plane.

Pandemicite
Pandemicite looks much like Plague Ink, but instead causes you to start in Madagascar, giving you a false sense of hope for 1d6 months before Canada closes its borders instead and you die in another 1d6 months.

Look, the original item didn't make sense either, okay!

Silentmetal

Silentmetal looks much like Soundmetal, and costs the same, but actually causes the wearer or wielder to become mute and any performances made thereby to fail.

Slaughterium
This metal looks like Palladinium, but actually grants a -10 penalty to fortitude save against whatever it is used to treat.

Sober Iron
This material looks like Drunken Iron, but actually allows the wielder - or wearer to see the world as it really is. Needless to say, this is a bad idea. A creature who equips any Sober Iron item benefits from a constant nonmagical True Seeing effect, but takes a single point of intelligence, wisdom and charisma drain every 3d6 minutes (roll once for all three).

Snowblighted
Snowblighted items look like Snowdrenched ones and cost as much to make, but they explode automatically just 1d3 rounds after being equipped.

Unseeing Mage Powder

This powder looks like Unseen Mage Powder, but actually blinds any creature who attempts to use it is blinded for the duration for which they would be invisible.

Virus Steel
Virus Steel looks like Inksteel and costs the same amount - indeed, it even has the same effects - but when stored in a creature's possession for more than a week, that creature contracts blinding sickness.

Vivacious Ore
Vivacious Ore looks like Necrotic Ore, but actually deals 1d6 points of positive energy damage per round to an undead creature in contact with it.

Weaseldeath Steel
Weaseldeath Steel looks just like Kobold Quicksteel, and costs the same amount, but is toxic to weasels. They must take a DC 20 fortitude save or die if they so much as touch it.

Personally, I say that ToB and Path of War cover it fine. Asking to bring A-Clickers up just promotes lazy character building.

Hence, the fixes. Unchained Monk actually fixes a lot of things that were wrong with the base monk and gives it a lot more versatility. Flurry doesn't put penalties on your attack anymore and it stacks with TWF. The range of abilites that the monk can use ki for now includes flight, better SR, or self-healing.

As for my fighter fix: where the unchained monk gains more versatility, the point of my fighter fix is to make the fighter excel at his area. The chassis was intended to work with light, heavy, or ranged fighters so most of the abilites are not specific to any style (hence why I made Spell Parry rather than use something like Grace). I also gave him Battle Mobility so as to negate some of the slowing/locking abilities that a BFC spellcaster uses to mess with him.

Sure, 1/turn (without Combat Reflexes) a fighter can deflect save-based spells away from him. Save-based spells were never much of a problem as far as game balance goes. Besides, I really hate borrowing from other classes. The point was to make things specifically for the fighter rather than just dipping into other classes.

Necrotic Ore

I like it. I don't use the taint system much but I'd definitely give a tainted minion some of this stuff if I sent one at my players.

No pressure, WG! But someday when your setting is put together, hit us up if you want a play test!

I'd definitely be down for a Redwall- or Mouse Guard-themed game. For those not familiar with the latter, it's a comic series that's sort of the gritty realistic version of Redwall (well, realistic other than the talking mice with swords). Also in Mouse Guard only the mice have humanlike intelligences and the relative sizes of the animals is taken into account more consistently.

Also, time for a contribution! It's not really a special material in its own right as it is a means of producing a special material, but that's close enough.

Virus Ink

This foul greenish-black liquid is produced by distilling a number of alchemical reagents with ichor drawn from plague victims' sores. Extracting the necessary fluids takes one minute and deals 2 points of Constitution damage to the source creature (which must be a humanoid suffering from any nonmagical disease which damages one or more physical ability scores). In addition, the source creature must immediately make a Fortitude save at the same DC as that of the disease from which they are suffering. If they fail, they are also affected as if they had failed two of the normal Fortitude saves forced by the disease (for example, a victim of filth fever would take an additional 2d3 Dexterity and Constitution damage). A vial of ichor is successfully collected even if the source creature dies in the process, and the rate at which ichor may be extracted is limited only by the source creature's resilience. After the ichor has been collected, it must be mixed with a number of common alchemical materials costing a total of 10 gp per vial of ichor to be processed. Each vial of ichor (and its accompanying reagents and catalysts) produces one dose of Virus Ink.

After the ink has been prepared, it must then be etched into a living creature's skin (or the skin of a corporeal, fleshy undead such as a zombie or vampire) in the form of a tattoo, which takes 10 minutes and requires reusable needles and tools costing 15 gp. This process is extremely painful (http://cdn2.denofgeek.us/sites/denofgeekus/files/styles/article_main_half/public/4/66//bane_tom_hardy.jpg); the creature receiving the tattoo takes 1 point of damage every minute while the tattoo is being applied, and if they attempt to take any action other than writhe in agony they must first make a DC 25 Fortitude save. If they succeed, they may take a single move or standard action (usually moving away from or attacking the creature applying the tattoo); if they fail, they are unable to act that round. The tattoo can still be successfully applied if the recipient dies during its application, but Virus Ink tattoos exhibit no special qualities (and fade after only a few days) unless the recipient was alive when the procedure was started.

A creature with a Virus Ink tattoo is immune to the disease possessed by the source creature of the ichor used to produce the Virus Ink, and targets struck by the tattooed creature's unarmed or natural attacks must make a Fortitude save at the disease's normal DC or contract the disease themselves. In addition, a struck creature which already had the disease must make a Fortitude save at the disease's normal DC or suffer the effects of a normal failed save against the disease.

The tattoo retains its properties even after the tattooed creature's death, and armor or clothing crafted from hides marked with Virus Ink tattoos confer the benefits of the tattoos to its wearer.

For Jorm:

Wyrdsilk

Favored by Truenamers, Wyrdsilk is crafted from the fibers of magical contracts reinforced with enchanted silk. When worn as a garment (such as a robe), it grants a +5 insight bonus to Truespeak, Spellcraft, and UMD checks. In addition, up to 3 times a day, you may ignore one of the Laws of Resistance and Sequence if it would restrict you from using an utterance (Switching to another garment made of Wyrdsilk does not allow further uses of this ability). The magical nature of the material is also protective, and acts as a mithral chain shirt with no ASF chance.

Due to the rare materials used in the construction, a robe for a medium creature costs 5000 GP.

I got one for Zaydos too, as well as a more curse related one for Jorm, will write those up in a bit.

It's Shakespeare! (http://nfs.sparknotes.com/romeojuliet/page_80.html)

Yup! She's not actually wondering where Romeo is; she's lamenting the fact that Romeo carrying the Montague name (and Juliet being a Capulet) makes it hard for the two of them to meet up and make kissy-face. Hence her plea "deny thy father and refuse thy name". That scene's also where she talks about roses by any other name smelling as sweet.

EA is back and ready to play! Haha.

Yeah! The phrase "virus ink" is quite inspiring. I've also got an idea bouncing around for a special sort of ironwood, but I haven't seen Uncle Pine (or anyone else with a name that evokes trees) in this thread.

A few players in my group currently have an obsession with the taint system. It can be... annoying?

Huh. I'm only familiar with the Heroes of Horror system, which is "an update and revision to" the OA and Unearthed Arcana taint systems. HoH also takes precedence over the other two, but you may not use that book in your games. Might still be worth looking at, because they might've ironed out some of the annoying bits.

It breaks pretty hard with wearing more than one at a time, and is still kinda crazy if you can switch out an expended robe/shirt/sock/g-string for a fresh one and get three more uses out of it. It might be worth adding a bit that restricts how many extra times the Laws of True can be ignored (maybe one extra time per two garments after the first, maximum of 5/day) and lowers the bonus scaling for multiple garments (maybe 5 for the first garment, +2 per garment after that, maximum of +15).

I couldn't decide on what type of bonus, so untyped is a place holder. I also forgot the laws for Truenamers, so that needs to get fixed. This was written on mobile, so it's badly written TBH.

Dragonscorned
Dragonscorned items are the failed attempts of lesser beings to create dragonshaped items. A dragon who looks at such an abomination immediately flies into a rage as a barbarian of a level equal to its own hit dice and attempts to attack the wielder, even if they drop the item.

:smalleek: That's a good way to screw over the players, and any rate.

It costs the same amount as Faux Dragon Scale.

... I must resist the temptation to throw this into games I'm DMing. Especially right before the players go and talk to any dragon NPCs I've made for them. And especially before they go and confront any dragon BBEG...

Huh. I used to be hardcore into Shakespeare (I'm a bit of an English geek...), but I guess I've gotten rusty. Consider me both schooled and ashamed of my wrongdoing.

You're welcome! I intentionally made the damage low enough that most adventurers could survive it but high enough that the average 1st-level commoner has almost no chance of making it through the ordeal - I definitely had the mental image of a particularly cruel necromancer (maybe a cleric of a god of plagues) kidnapping peasants, tattooing (and in the process killing) them, and animating the bodies for an army of disease-bearing soldiers. Or maybe a flesh golem made entirely from the tattooed body parts!

I'm probably going to have to use that next time I run a game, too. If one of the PCs gets captured, it could lead to a rather tense moment where they get to watch someone die while receiving a tattoo, and then realize that it's time for their turn under the needle... :smallamused:

I just had a brilliant idea. Bardsteel castanets. Thrown like shurikens, but do 1d6 instead of 1d2. Awesome!

Never fear, Paladin's here.

Drunken Iron
This metal was invented by a dwarven smith whose funds had all but run dry. One fateful day, when business was slow and the ale was plentiful, the smith accidentally quenched a sword in his keg of ale instead of oil! Thus, drunken iron was created. This metal has a marbled bronze look, making it a unique and eye catching material.

Effect
Weapons forged from drunken iron deal 1 point of constitution damage when they strike an opponent (dc 12 fortitude negates) and armor forged from drunken iron grants damage reduction 10/-, but it deals 1d4 wisdom damage when donned that can only be overcome by removing the armor.

This sounds more sinister than it does well meaning.

Hmm. One supposes it could. Guess that's what I get for dumping Cha.

Nothing sinister involved. Just come down to the cogworks and pose for the sketching of the initial blueprint then its off to the examination laboratory and finally a deeper examination of those of you with special powers.

When all's done a convenient clockworks copy of any one of you can be mass produced at a moment's notice. Nope, nothing sinister here.

Do you have room for circles of 20 or so Spellclocks? (I know magic traps are better. I just like Spellclocks more) Or did you mean you want the replicant itself to be able to self perpetuate?

Either can be accomplished. Built in Simulacrum okay?

The replicants must be able to self replicate. Where do you think all the phoenixes in the world came from? One day a the first phoenix learned spellcasting and of course learned how to come back from death. Then every time it died and came back a new phoenix was born.

I think if GitP Regulars was made into an anime or something, we might actually have a complete cast. We've got the psycho, the know-it-all, the "big brother", the punching bag, the cutie, and various other background characters.

Forgot the attempted Ladies' Man and the handyman. Everyone else I can't decide on the trope they embody.

That'd be a really amusing, but really scattered anime haha. The plot would be something like Virus running from Jormen's strange advances while the rest of the playground caused crazy mayhem. Meanwhile, my brother sense begins to tingle while I'm sitting down for tea with Red Fel.

The trick is to animate the 5-foot square you're in, imbue it with a soul, and politely convince it to move somewhere else, taking you along. It's just bending the fabric of reality to your whims, shouldn't be too difficult.

Yandere Cloth

This material looks like normal cloth, and it can be used to create regular clothing, but it actually carries a powerful magical curse on it. Anyone who dons clothing made out of this cursed material must make a Will save (DC 15+the victim's HD), as well as an additional one every hour thereafter until the cloth is removed, or fall madly in love with the next person they see (treat their attitude towards that person as Fanatic). The victim also gains one negative level every time they succeed on their saving throw. These negative levels cannot be removed by any means until the clothing is removed, unless the victim fails one of the later Will saves, in which case, all negative levels caused by the cloth are immediately removed.

Cost: Why would you want to buy this? Well, if you do, it's the same as a normal set of clothing (or whatever other cloth item you want).

Inky, honey, just look me in the eye a second, I just want to put this cute dress on you...

Because it's wonderful.
Goal? Do I look like someone who has a goal?

Well, I admit it. Maybe. Anywho, when I'm done I'm sure someone will be delighted.
I changed the value of "true" earlier. It's up to you if you want to believe if your trapped or not.
...Good point.
Well, if that's the case I choose to stand right here. By you. The yandere who doesn't cuddle me. And least that's the plan till LP gets back.

Important info here, you can still take actions normally, you just cant move from that square. *hands +1 Merciful Yandere-Bane Tetsubo* Have fun with that.
...I... I shall keep this close and use it in my time of need. Thank yo-

Mhm. My own little dimensional lock.

Transmute weapon.

Oh, what's that, your weapon is now made of water? That's a pity. Create water.

*Kisses Inky~*
UUUUUGH.

I have reversed spell rebirth and another shot of reversed inertia surge (because it's usable practically at will). Which 5 foot square would Virus-Senpai like~?
Whatever 5 foot square means no cuddles....Which I've decided is right by Snow.

Huh. That's pretty neat. Wasn't even aware that smitten could be used to refer to anything other than affection.

And that's why I'll be including her in the stitched-flesh abomination that I'm building!

What? It's still going to be technically alive.

By the way VI, would you mind holding still for a bit? I've got this really cool idea for a tattoo...

As much as I would love that I much more enjoy watching other people die from painful poison tattoos!

You don't even need infinite damage to win. You're a sorcerer (https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/0a/84/1b/0a841b88ab40d3aa012070633857cfba.jpg), after all. Those silly int-based magic users (http://www.mensagenscomamor.com/images/interna/new/frases_louco.jpg) have nothing on you.

No, Google. I know what I meant.

But I'm not trying to win.
